Nasim has further revealed more details of the new Peugeot 2008 as it nears the pinnacle Malaysian premiere stage. Exterior-wise, the new 2008 doesn’t differ much from its bigger sibling the new 3008. It packs Peugeot’s signature bold front grille, sculpted hood with an unmistakable Lion marque emblem, LED headlights and chrome-accented rounded foglights. The side has an electric folding mirror, railings up top and protruding front and rear fenders. Uniquely-shaped LED lights and matching color spoiler define the rear of the compact Urban SUV.
With its raised posture, the Urban SUV takes up rather unique 16-inch two-tone alloy wheels that give the SUV a strong stance of clear capability.
All-new Peugeot 2008 Urban SUV: Definitively different on the inside
On the inside, the new Peugeot 2008 Urban SUV is enhanced to cater to current trends. The customary Smart Park Assist that comprises the front, rear and side sensors enables a safe and convenient parking. Side parking is made a breeze with this intelligent feature where the driver merely positions the vehicle with guidance from the touchscreen, engage reverse and let the vehicle does self-steer. The driver only controls the accelerator and brake functions.
The most innovative interior fixture is none other than the Peugeot i-Cockpit, which consists the 7-inch HD color touchscreen on the dashboard, compact steering, head-up instrument panel, the Arkamys 3D audio system with 6 speakers and dual-zone air conditioning. Of course, the touchscreen offers user-friendly connectivity such as USB, compatible media devices and Bluetooth. Other amenities include the center armrest with storage driver, illuminated vanity mirrors, ‘Follow Me Home’ security lighting functionality, remote ‘Guide Me Home’ security lighting, front and rear wipers, and one touch windows with anti-pinch.
Driver’s seat position has been jacked up a little to offer a better and more optimal view of the road. Panoramic glass roof with electric shutter allows more light into the Urban SUV’s cabin, while LED guide lights in dimmed blue add a touch of class inside the Urban SUV.
The new Peugeot 2008 takes up 360 liters at the boot with the rear seats up. When the seats are folded, the boot space could hold up to 1,194 liters.
A 1.6-liter VTi powerplant in the new 2008 enables 122 hp and 160 Nm of torque, as well as a decent top speed of approximately 190 km/h. The engine is paired to an auto adaptive gearbox with tiptronic and Sport mode functionality.
This 5-star Euro NCAP rated Urban SUV has a myriad of safety features from 6 airbags, ESP to front and rear parking aid with audio visual assistance.
In terms of handling and stability, the Urban SUV is held tight by front MacPherson struts and trailing arm with deformable cross member axle at the rear.
