2015 Kia Rio 5-Door Front Naza Kia Malaysia today announced the facelifted Kia Rio subcompact for the domestic market. Since its debut domestically in 2013, the Kia Rio has been a regular competing variant in the subcompact segment alongside the more popular subcompacts from leading Japanese marques. Around the globe, the Rio has been Kia’s best selling variant with over 490,000 units sold in the fiscal year of 2014. On the domestic front, Naza Kia Malaysia has delivered some 3,200 units, to date.

Refreshed for the current year, the Kia Rio is positioned as a youthful and trendy compact that’s targeted towards the younger audience and active young families. For VMY 15, the Kia Rio gets updated designs all-round, primarily to the front-end; a revised, broader front grille insert to fit an air intake and two matte silver bars on front fog light housing. Further to that, the signature Tiger Nose twin tab grille features a geometrical lattice pattern to accentuate the car’s profile. Lastly, LED DRLs are included with the projector headlghts to increase visibility during dusk or at night.

The contoured rear-end now has restyled reflectors, while newly designed 17-inch wheels give the subcompact a more masculine demeanor. LED rear combination lights replace the former less attractive combination lights. Moving to the inside, the 2015 Kia Rio is instilled a classy cabin, thanks to the high gloss black finish on the center portion of the dashboard and console. The concept follows the Kia’s interior design philosophy with emphasis on refinement and easy access. The important highlights inside the Rio are the characteristic horizontal instrument panel, Supervision meter cluster, simplified audio unit with 6 speakers and 860 MB internal memory, steering with switches, Push-start, rain sensor and more.

The 2015 Kia Rio continues on with the Gamma 1.4 MPI DOHC Dual=CVVT powerplant that’s paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Output remains similar to outgoing Rio at 109 PS and 137 Nm of torque.

Obviously Kia doesn’t offer less safety features for the refreshed Rio; the list comprises: Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist System (BAS), Rear Parking Sensors, Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), ISOFIX and 6 airbags.
