Naza Kia Malaysia today officially unveiled the new Grand Carnival at an on-the-road starting price of RM153,888. The new Kia Grand Carnival is depicted as a stylish 8-seater for the trendy, contemporary go-getters and families.
The new Kia Grand Carnival, with the Brand’s recognizable bold face, appears sleeker, measuring 5,115 mm long, with a wheelbase of 3,060 mm, a height of 1,740 mm and a width of 1,985 mm. At the front, a wide, upright ‘tiger nose’ grille with wrap-around headlights (LED with DRLs) and framed fog lights make an immediate impression.
From the rear, the new MPV from Kia has wide rear lights and broad metal surfaces that give it a well-built character. Other notable features are the powered tailgate and double sliding-doors. The package is completed by 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the Kia Grand Carnival is all about sophistication and premium presentation thanks to high quality materials and the latest technologies. As an 8-seater, the MPV takes up a wide dashboard, a first class airplane cabin semblance, leather seats, overhead consoles, all around a/c vents and a huge boot. The third row seats when folded down offer even more boot space, while the second row offers space for third row occupants. At the same time, fitted under the front armrest is a space large enough to fit a handbag, a diary or even smart devices. For multimedia, an audio unit with six speakers come standard, along with a 4.3 inch TFT LCD color display touchscreen and a rear view camera. Steering with switches is standard, as are park sensors, foot parking brake and auto cruise control.
The interior of the new Grand Carnival has increased legroom space for its passengers. It also has a higher headroom space due to the lower seat cushions. Furthermore, the roof of the Grand Carnival no longer slopes to the tailgate; this meant more headroom for third row passengers.
Engine option for the Grand Carnival is a 2.2-liter CRDi turbocharged diesel engine paired to a torque converter six-speed automatic transmission. The output is 190 horsepower with 440 Nm of torque, on paper.
The new Grand Carnival maintains from its predecessor the MacPherson front suspension and the multi-link rear suspension. With the hydraulic rebound spring, stiffer suspension bars and cross-member bush mountings, it improves its bump absorption thus enhancing a more comfortable ride.
Improved safety features for the new MPV include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist System, six airbags and more. Three variants of the Grand Carnival are available; the 2.2D EX priced at RM185,888, the 2.2D KX at RM165,888 and 2.2D standard at RM 153,888. Colors available are Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black Pearl and Titanium Brown.
