|Domestic Aprilia distributors Naza Premira last weekend revealed two limited-edition Factory Editions at the Malaysian Round of WSBK (World Superbike) Championship at the Sepang International Circuit.|
The two new Aprilia factory editions, Aprilia RSV4 RF Limited Edition and Aprilia Tuono V4 1100, are considered the most dynamic racing machines yet. Aprilia is currently active participants in the WSBK and MotoGP, and the marque has always claimed they’ve a vast amount of experience in two-wheel racing. The WSBK scene is where Aprilia has reaped the most benefits, with four manufacturer titles and three rider crowns, since the release of the Aprilia RSV4 in 2009. In fact, the marque has 294 race victories in the bag across Road Racing world championships, as well as 54 titles across the Road Racing, Superbike and Off-road categories.
For 2015, Aprilia has fine-tuned its Superbike flagship and upped its game with a lighter gross weight (2.5kg less than its predecessor) and a more powerful engine (200hp and over). Combined with a revised chassis, better handling and an enhanced electronics package, the RSV4 RF is primed for victory, being more effective on the track and providing improved riding pleasure for the road. With the RF limited edition, the bike includes a more refined suspension and updated wheels, as well.
In looks, the Aprilia RSV4 RF has a redesigned front-end with revised aerodynamics for greater emphasis on agility and performance. The bike also comes with new protective top fairing which betters protection for the rider.
The Aprilia RSV4 is the world’s first production bike with a high performance narrow V4 engine. It delivers more than 16 additional horsepower for an unprecedented 200 hp maximum power output. Important features for the RSV4 comprises the APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) software suite, Aprilia Traction Control (eight-way-adjustable), Aprilia Wheelie control, Quick Shift, Launch Control settings and Race ABS.
Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory Edition
The more reasonable Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 is a naked bike and direct descendant of the top-of-the-line RSV4. With a revamped V4 engine (now taking it to 1100 cc and 175hp and maximum torque of 121Nm), and a redefined chassis, the Tuono V4 1100 is a true performer and offers much desired agility. The already exceptional APRC Package has been further developed to ensure a more effective ride of greater convenience.
Like the RSV4, the Tuono V4 has a protective top fairing and improved aerodynamics. Then there’s a sharper LED headlight to boost the overall look of the bike, especially at the front. The bike has a new rail fairing, dedicated saddle portion, lower seating position, new-styled handlebar, as well as Ohlins suspension, forks and steering damper. The Tuono V4 bike now has smartphone connectivity thanks to Aprilia’s V4-MP platform, fitted on the factory and RR versions.
The third generation of APRC, standard equipment on the new Tuono V4 1100 units, fully integrates with the fine full Ride-by-Wire multimap electronic management of the revamped V4 engine. The Tuono V4 1100 range is fitted with a Race ABS system, developed in collaboration with Bosch to guarantee maximum safety, without sacrificing performance.
The Aprilia RSV4 RF Limited Edition, only 500 units worldwide, comes with Superpole livery and Race Pack accessories at a base selling price of RM 138, 800. The Tuono V4 has a starting price of RM118,800. Both variants are attached with a 2-year or 20,000km manufacturer’s warranty.
