As the world’s most recognizable sedan, the A4 has an updated design and a host of interior upgrades. Engine options now include a mild-hybrid selection.
Audi’s signature look shines bright with the A4 thanks to the broader, flatter singleframe grille and LED head lights (Matrix LEDs for the highest level) that give the A4 an even more menacing look. The side view now has a ‘ masculinity’ look and feel above the fenders and a more pronounced beltline. There are 3 equipment levels (basic, advanced and S line) and 12 colors, including new terra gray, to choose from, for the A4.
The exterior design is based on the S line exterior, supplemented with striking elements such as the black styling package.
When you get inside the A4, you get the Audi harmony wit dozens of customizable options. The interior is highlighted by horizontal lines. MMI systems and hi-res TFT 10.1” driver’s display. Navigation, connectivity and communicative options are available on the 12.3” display, at the touch of the steering switches and with Audi Connect. While multimedia entertainment is made possible by the Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium Sound Systemt.
The A4 models are available with a host of driver assist systems. The optional systems are bundled into the “Tour”, “City” and “Park” packages.
The A4 is offered with diesel, TFSI and V6 TDI; all engines will come with a mild-hybrid system (MHEV). This helps reduce fuel consumption and give better comfort. The TFSI has an output range between 150PS to 347 PS and torque up to 700Nm (347PS and 700 Nm on the S4) . For the first time, the V6 TDI version has a 48-volt main electrical system and an electric powered compressor (EPC). This combination of power, torque and efficiency makes it unique in the segment. An eight-speed tiptronic and the quattro permanent all-wheel drive make up the drivetrain. If desired, an optional sport differential is available to actively distribute power between the rear wheels. In this way, more power can be directed specifically to the wheel on the outside of the bend when cornering at speed, which combats the tendency to understeer early on.
The suspension comes standard or with a sport setup. There are also two adaptive suspensions. One option is the comfort suspension with damper control, which reduces the ride height by 10 millimeters. The other is the sport suspension, either with or without damper control, which is lowered by 23 millimeters. The same applies to the steering, with dynamic steering, automatic transmission and throttle valve available for customers as an option. Audi drive select allows the driver to determine which of up to five profiles these systems use.
The Audi A4 range is set to arrive at showrooms this month in Europe with more variants to follow. Base price starts from 35,900 euros and customization options to spruce up the A4 is available.
