After years of the successful MyVi, National carmakers Perodua today announced open bookings for the new-generation MyVi at a starting price of RM44,300. The new-gen MyVi is expected to continue Perodua’s TIV (Total Industry Volume) leading status. Prior to its official launch, bookings have been made available from today at dealerships everywhere.
To keep the price low, but not forsaking the trendy design and various modern requirements, Perodua has added more convenience features and equipment to assure the MyVi’s value-for-money and a car truly built for Malaysians.
The New Myvi is offered in five variants: 1.3 Standard G (MT), 1.3 Standard G (AT), 1.3 Premium X (AT), 1.5 High (AT) and 1.5 Advance (AT). All variants have LED headlights with ‘Follow Me Home’ function and headlight levelling, Smart Entry with Push Start, a 60:40 folding rear seat and reverse sensors. Overall, the exterior of the new-gen MyVi has a completely redesigned upper body.
In dimensions, the new-gen Myvi is longer, lower and wider than its predecessor. It sits on alloy rims as standard, measuring 14 inches for 1.3 variants and 15 inches for 1.5 variants (with 2-tone finish). With a 973 mm tandem distance (distance between front and rear passengers) ensuring lots of legroom, and an 8+1 flexible seating arrangement, the new Myvi ensures enough cabin space and its famed occupants’ comfort.
The top variant, 1.5 High, get sporty front and side skirts, a two-tone rear bumper, a rear spoiler and a built-in toll reader. Both the High and Advance MyVis get Advanced Safety Assist (ASA), a suite of advanced safety features that comprises Pre-Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control. These systems operate through a forward-facing recognition camera located behind the rear-view mirror.
Welcoming the new MyVi, Perodua’s CEO and President Aminar Rashid Salleh commented, “The New Myvi represents everything we stand for at Perodua. It is the culmination of years of hard work and manufacturing experience, listening to our customers and continuously improving on our products based on their feedback.”
Powering the New Myvi are new 1.3 and 1.5 liter engines, as before. Equipped with Dual VVT-i, the engines are mated to either a five-speed manual transmission (MT) in the 1.3l variant or a four-speed E-AT automatic transmission (all variants). Fuel consumption is improved thanks to aerodynamics tweak, at estimated figures 20.1 km/l (1.5 AT Dual VVT-i)
Another new feature on the new-gen MyVi is the Eco Idle, which shut off and restart the car when the car is idle at traffic lights and pause situations. The car restarts when the brake pedal is released by the driver.
