In the pursuit of the Essence of Luxury, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class is perfection down to the last detail and the personification of the best or nothing philosophy. At a glance, the new S-Class is instantly recognizable with the classic face, architecture and flowing silhouette; hinting on the classic elegance of the 1930s autos. The new S-Class’ front-end has a larger radiator grille in upright and three-dimensional guise which denotes its bold, sporty coupe-style intentions. With its long bonnet, the flowing, domed roof line and the gently slanting rear-end, the new S-Class has classic saloon proportions. When viewed from the side, the large sedan’s “Dropping Line” add to the profile’s sturdiness and dynamism. Furthermore, the new-style rearlights which are completely encased into the body encapsulate the S-Class’ exquisite rear-end.
New Mercedes-Benz S-Class features multi-level LED lighting inside and out
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the first vehicle in the world to be light bulb-free. Whether interior or exterior, the new S-Class utilizes the absolute in multi-level LED technology. Almost 500 LEDs illuminate the road, the vehicle, the interior and the boot. Each headlight which houses 56 LEDs is enhanced by Adaptive Highbeam and Night View Assist Plus. All-around vision on the new S-Class is greatly intensified by the flagship sedan’s camera and multi-stage radar sensors.
Another first for the new S-Class is the ability to detect bumps on the road ahead, via the Road Surface Scan. Road Surface Scan detects road anomalies and activates the Magic Body Control to set up the suspension for further course of action. Standard equipment like the Adaptive Damping system ADS Plus and AirMatic air suspension system play a major role in the large sedan’s impeccable suspension settings.
All that you’ve come to expect from the very best of Mercedes-Benz are incorporated in the entire cabin, with the most premium of materials, contrasting color tones, dashboard and center console wood trimmings, and an interior that is exclusively cast from a single mould. Meantime, safety is ensured for the rear occupants with the seat belt buckle extender, beltbag and cushionbag.
Two high-resolution TFT color displays in 8:3 format with a screen diagonal of 30.7 cm (12.3 inches) form the new information center in the S-Class. The right-hand display performs the functions of the previous instrument cluster, providing the driver with all relevant information. The left-hand display allows the convenient control of infotainment and comfort functions. Other infotainment, navigation and telephony features are operated via the rotary push button include touch-sensitive keypad, 12-memory select, animated compass, Driveshow information, and toolbar for the driving assistance systems. The controls also enable voice activation and the LinguaTronic Speed Dialog voice entry enabler. As alternatives to the standard sound system with ten speakers, two super premium audio systems are available which were developed together with the high-end audio specialist Burmester: the Burmester Surround Sound system and the Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound system; both optional.
The S-Class range boasts class-leading efficiency and up to 20 percent lower fuel consumption than the predecessor flagship line-up. In a nutshell, the S-Class V6 3.5-liter S400 Hybrid paired with a 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission does 306 hp and 620Nm of torque (250Nm from the electric motor); the S500 V8 also paired with a 7G-Tronic turns it up a notch to 455 hp and 700 Nm of torque; and the top-of-the-line S63 AMG with its massive 5.5-liter powerplant and AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission hit 585 hp and a staggering 900 Nm of torque!

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia currently offers the locally-assembled S400 Hybrid at an estimated price tag of RM 900,000, with the S500 and top-of-the-line S63 valid on pre-orders. Estimated price tags for the new S-Class CBUs: S500 is RM 1.08 million and the top range S63 AMG runs from RM 1.6 million.
