New Peugeot 5008 makes grand entrance at One U

Peugeot Malaysia (Nasim Sdn Bhd) today unveiled the all-new 5008, the first model for the year. The Peugeot 5008 has been converted from an MPV to the current SUV variation; a sleeker and more dynamic looking 7-seater SUV.   As a new contender in the competitive C-segment, the new Peugeot 5008 SUV breathes new air in this segment with its blend of space and practicality of an MPV and the dynamic appeal of an SUV.

In dimensions, the new Peugeot 5008 is more compact compared to its previous MPV guise. The SUV measures 4,641mm long (110mm more than previous 5008) and 1,844mm wide. The extended length makes for a more bigger cabin space, which translates to a whole lot of comfort for all passengers.

When it comes to looks, Peugeot’s SUV design is truly unique and instantly recognizable; it all began with the stunner the new 3008 SUV.  The 5008 follows it up with an expressive front-end with the Lion brand’s marque mirrors the assertive personality or Peugeot’s front fascia signature.

The finesse of the vehicle’s Advanced Full LED headlights with sequential scrolling indicators give it a piercing feline gaze whether in day or night, and its striking form is accentuated by a chrome insert on the front wings that extend to the headlights, homage to Peugeot’s HX1 Concept.

From the rear, the SUV gets raised body line and chromed roof arc trim at the quarter panel to exude an aerodynamic-savvy profile. In addition, Peugeot’s signature three-claw LED rear lights and an extra-wide tailgate on a low rear-end, plus 18-inch alloy Los Angeles wheels with two-tone diamond finish, steel roof and prominent black wheel arches complete the package.

Yasser Awan, CEO of Nasim Sdn Bhd, said, “Impressive at first sight is the definitive design appeal of the All-New Peugeot 5008 SUV incorporating an agile driving experience that Peugeots are known for. The All-New 5008 truly stands out from its competitors, thanks to its versatility as an SUV and practicality of an MPV with its 7 seat configuration – combining the best of both worlds.”

With Peugeot’s Efficient Modular Platform (EMP2), the new Peugeot 5008 is a lot lighter and more agile, with a gross weight of just 1,385kg; 95 kg less than its MPV predecessor.

A invitation to board the New Peugeot 5008

The interior is an invitation to take a seat and enjoy a special experience travelling in comfort, serenity, and luxury. The futuristic-looking i-Cockpit, Peugeot’s very own intuitive interior architecture, has an update on the new Peugeot 5008. Expect high-end driving experience, with a redesigned compact steering wheel, an 8-inch Multifunction color touchscreen and a 12.3-inch Digital Head-Up Cluster Display for tech enthusiasts.

Further embellishing the dashboard are central satin chrome ‘Toggle Switches’ for quick access to the main passenger comfort and safety functions: audio, air-conditioning, assistance settings, telephone, apps, and hazard warning lights. More refined, advanced and connected than before, the latest Peugeot i-Cockpit offers more emotional satisfaction and customization.

Other major highlights include plush leather seats, new electric impulse gear control with paddle shift, a meticulous selection of materials and more. The second row seats now offer five different angles of inclination. This row also features three-point ISOFIX anchor points and reconfiguration options at the passenger and loading compartments to optimize knee room. The third row of two extra seats, too, can be folded down flat into the floor with the two covers of the boot floor forming a perfectly flat surface when folded down. Ample amenities like sockets, boot cover, blinds, ‘aeroplane’ trays, hooks, cup holders, electric tailgate by placing foot under rear bumper and 38 liters of storage space are little highlights of the new 5008.

As with the 3008, the new 5008 is powered by a  a 1.6 Turbo THP engine and boasts a fuel efficiency of 7.3 liters per 100 km and CO2 emissions as low as 133g/km.
