Volvo Car Malaysia today launches their new Regional Training Center here in Malaysia. The Volvo Regional Training Center is located in Symphony Square, Section 13 Petaling Jaya, will be a regional training center for up to 7,500 man days of training to staff and dealers from across the Asia Pacific region on technical and non-technical areas.
According to Mr. Nalin Jain, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia, “Malaysia is considered the ideal hub as it offers good infrastructure and a strong team of local talent to run regional functions. This training center and other shared services such as Finance Cluster, Technical Hub, and Procurement which operate here are expected to generate export service revenue of over RM100 million in the next 5-7 years.”
In 2019, Volvo added fully certified after sales teams to all their dealerships in the country, and 90% of them are also equipped with the Volvo Personalized Service (VPS) hardware. These updates will benefit Volvo dealers to serve their customers better and ultimately drive greater business performance.
2019 was a great year for Volvo as they manage to surpass the 700,000 mark for the first time ever with a total of 705,452 units sold around the world. In Malaysia, Volvo Car Malaysia achieved a new milestone by having their highest sales figure of 1,883 units. It’s a feat for Volvo Car Malaysia because Malaysia’s premium segment is facing a decline, but Volvo still manage to achieve a highest ever year-on-year growth in sales at 36.1% in 2019 compares to the previous year.
2019 achievement of Volvo Car Malaysia include:
- Strong market share in Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (‘PHEV’)
- Launched 3 new cars: XC40 T5 CKD, S60 T8, and XC90 Facelift
- Launched 5 new dealerships: Setia Alam (Motion Beyond), Johor Bahru (Pekin Auto), Mutiara Damansara (Ingress Swede Automobile), Ipoh (iRoll Ipoh), and Ara Damansara (Sime Darby Swedish Auto)
- One of the first two markets to have a 100% Volvo Retail Experience dealership in APAC
For the year 2020, Volvo Car Malaysia is expected to be another momentous year for Volvo with 2 new cars, the S60 T8 CKD and the S90 Facelift – and a new dealership in Kota Kinabalu will be coming soon. From 1st January 2020 onwards, all new Volvo PHEV will come with an 8-year PHEV battery warranty, offering peace of mind for car buyers who wish to invest in cleaner energy alternatives.
Globally, Volvo will continually seeking new ways to reduce its environmental impact across Volvo Cars Group as sustainability is a strong theme for Volvo this year and the future.
