|Nissan brought forth its new line-up of 370Zs, including the Nismo Roadster Concept, for a world premiere at the ongoing Chicago Auto Show. The available versions for the 2015 Nissan Z include Coupe, Roadster and Nismo configurations.|
The Nissan 370Z Nismo concept is a one-off design study to gauge market interest in an ultimate factory roadster. In concept form, the radical roadster offers unique engine, suspension, exterior and interior features versus standard Nissan 370Z Roadster versions, including 350-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 and Nismo-tuned suspension.
The Nissan 370Z Nismo Roadster concept’s striking visual presence starts with the addition of its GT-R-inspired functional and fully integrated aerodynamic body pieces. In front, the deep front fascia with Hyper LED Daytime Running Lights, black headlight bezels, Nismo emblem and signature Nismo red stripe accents set the tone. To the side, red accents and sideview mirror covers continue the Nismo theme and compliment the top-down profile. Fixed headrest bars with leather-wrapped on red accents are seen when viewed at the center of the roadster. From the rear, the exclusive custom carbon fiber spoiler just fits like a glove on the roadster concept.
The convertible top itself, though it is expected to be rare that it is in the closed position, is a cloth power-folding roof with fabric inner liner design. It includes a single action top operation with automatic roof lock, steel tonneau cover and fixed glass wind deflector; just like every 2015 Nissan 370Z roadster. Finally, the package is completed by wide 19-inch Nismo super-lightweight wheels by RAYS and Bridgestone Potenza 245/40R19 fronts and 285/35R19 rear tyres.
Further refinements are carried to the inside, with the addition of a new Alcantara red-accented 3-spoke steering and a red Nismo tachometer. Nismo-styled interior is also anchored by black Recaro leather-appointed seats with red stitching and stain-repellent, off-white premium Ultrasuede inserts.
Various interior highlights include BOSE entertainment system with six speakers, in-dash 6CD changer, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, auto-dimming inside mirror, and HomeLink universal transceiver. Additionally, the Navigation system consists of hard drive-based navigation system with 7.0-inch touch-sensitive display, NavTraffic with Real-Time Traffic Information, NavWeather, Bluetooth Streaming Audio, USB connectivity, iPod connection and RearView Monitor.
At its core, the Nismo branding is all about performance. To that end, the 370Z Nismo Roadster concept is conceived to incorporate most of the engine and suspension modifications (compared to regular 370Zs) of the 370Z Nismo coupe. This includes its potent 350-horsepower 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine with Variable Valve Event and Lift Control (VVEL). The 370Z Nismo’s enhanced engine power and acceleration is provided through use of an exclusive H-configured exhaust system design and muffler tuning, along with optimized ECM (Engine Control Module) calibration, to help create 18 horsepower more than a standard 370Z. Torque is rated at 374 Nm (276 lb-ft).
Stability prowess of the roadster concept rely on a Nismo-branded strut tower brace under the hood, along with a red engine cover. The Nismo-tuned 4-wheel independent suspension includes special springs and stabilizer bars for an even more impeccable handling. With large Nissan Sport Brakes and a Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (VLSD) with a shorter final drive ratio, the 370Z Nismo roadster concept is unquestionably a force to be reckon with.
The 2015 Nissan 370Z line-up, which comprises five versions, is offered in eight exterior colors for the U.S. market.
