Nissan LEAF NISMO RC: Where EV meets Motorsports

Nissan has came up with a race version of its best-selling LEAF for the very first time. It’s called the LEAF NISMO RC, indicating a perfect blend of the world of electric cars and motorsports. The LEAF has amassed about 450,000 units in global sales since its debut in 2010.

There hasn’t been a race version of the LEAF until now. With Nismo onboard, the LEAF Nismo RC all-wheel drive, based on the first generation LEAF, gets a boost in power and torque to 322hp and 640Nm. This output enables a 0 – 100 km/h sprint in just 3.4 seconds. Recently, the LEAF Nismo RC had test runs in the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain as its first development phase.

Nissan reiterated that the RC LEAF Nismo isn’t just for show, but it’s a testbed for future technological evolution and showcases the limitless potential of Nissan electric vehicles. In short, the LEAF Nismo demonstrates the power and performance of electric vehicles, a key component of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision.

The LEAF e+

The latest LEAF incarnation is the LEAF e+. The e+ adds even more excitement to the fun drive factor with a 215hp motor, consisting a bigger battery and e-Pedal. It’s the line-up’s top variant and makes up 20 percent of sales in Europe.

The powertrain in the Nissan LEAF e+ increases range by approximately 40%, ensuring that the driving needs of a wider range of customers are met. Still equipped with Nissan’s ProPILOT technology and e-Pedal mode for one-pedal driving, the LEAF e+ delivers an enjoyable driving experience; allowing the driver to start, accelerate, decelerate and stop using only the accelerator pedal. This delivers a seamless, smooth drive, and gives maximum control to the driver through enhanced pedal feedback.
