Perodua today officially released the New-generation MyVi, an iconic model and a car truly built for Malaysians. After more than a decade and hundreds of thousands of the previous MyVi on the road, Perodua has decided to redesign and come up with a much improved MyVi to suffice its fairly large customer population.
Perodua has also came up with a tagline for its all-time best seller, nine years in a row. The MyVi stands for M0dern Technology, Youthful design, Versatile space and Intellignet safety. Aside from the contemporary look, the new MyVi’s primary feature is the Advanced Safety Assist (ASA), consisting Pre-collision Warning, Pre-collision braking assist, Front departure alert and Pedal misoperation control. The ASA only applues for the top two MyVi variants.
Aesthetically, the new MyVi is sleeker and more dynamic compared to the outgoing model. Front highlights include projector-typed headlights, slightly sculpted hood, a chrome-out fascia with the Perodua emblem in the center, grey-surround foglights and a tasteful lower bumper with an extended spoiler in black. The top variant, 1.5 High, get sporty front and side skirts, a two-tone rear bumper, a rear spoiler. and a built-in toll reader, first on a Perodua.
At the side, the car has a sculpted profile with a tinge of muscular porportions and a slanting roofline; probably to aid aerodynamics. Wheel and tyre sizes come in 14-inch up to 15-inch, depending on variant. From the rear, the MyVi has a somewhat ‘sexy’ behind, thanks to the sculpted bumper and clean-shaped combo. light cluster.
The MyVi in its 2nd-generation is 205mm lengthier, 30mm lower and 70mm wider compared to its predecessor. With a 973 mm distance (wheelbase) between front and rear passengers, the MyVi offers plenty of legroom.
Inside, an 8+1 flexible seating arrangement ensures ample cabin space and occupants’ comfort. Boot space is 277 liters, 69 liters up from the previous MyVi.
The New Myvi comes in five variants, from the 1.3 Standard G (MT), up to 1.5 Advance (AT). All variants have LED headlights with ‘Follow Me Home’ function and headlight levelling, Smart Entry with Push Start, a 60:40 folding rear seat and reverse sensors.
The familiar 1.3- and 1.5-liter engines are fitted for the new MyVi, coupled with Dual VVT-i. The engines are mated to either a five-speed manual transmission (MT) in the 1.3l variant or a four-speed E-AT automatic transmission (all variants). Fuel consumption is improved thanks to aerodynamics tweak, at estimated figures 20.1 km/l (1.5 AT Dual VVT-i).
Another new feature on the new-gen MyVi is the Eco Idle, which shut off and restart the car when the car is idle at traffic lights and pause situations. The car restarts when the brake pedal is released by the driver. The Eco idle helps improve fuel consumption by 32 percent compared to the old MyVi.
The suspension enhancements on the new MyVi comprise stabilizer bars with increased diameters, new lightweight front lower arm, stiff rear beam structure and redesigned rear cross member.
Some of the essential safety features in the new MyVi consist of the ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC). 1.5 variants, and four to six airbags, depending on grade.
The Perodua MyVi is offered in six colors: Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Mystical Purple, Lava Red, Peppermint Green (New) and Granite Grey (New). A standard 5-year / 150,000 km warranty is attached. Gear Up! accessories are available for the new MyVi at additional costs.
Perodua expects to sell 6,000 units per month. Prices from RM44,300 till RM 55,300. All prices do not include insurance.
