Perodua reports fair Market Share thanks to 20k sales of the Bezza

National Carmakers Perodua has again picked up market share in the domestic automotive industry’s TIV (total industry volume), according to its latest press statement. In the first nine months of the year, Perodua has delivered 150,000 units of various models for a 36.1 percent market share. The sales sustainability is attributed to a large delivery of the Perodua Bezza. which now tallied some 20,000 units.

Since the Perodua Bezza’s launch in July, the model already had some registered 20,000 owners. This figure represents the highest ever delivery within 90 days for a new model in its history. The Perodua Bezza is the national compact carmakers’ first compact sedan and more than equivalent to the other Perodua’s best selling model, the MyVi. “We thank our customers for choosing us as their brand of choice and we give our assurance that we will deliver the Bezza, in particular, with minimal waiting for our customers,” Perodua President and CEO, Aminar Rashid Salleh said. “On a year-to-year comparison, we are cautiously optimistic that we will further reduce the sales deficit gap which currently stands at 4.2%.”

Last year, Perodua has accumulated a sales of 157,500 units in the first nine months. For the third quarter of this year, Perodua sold 45,300 cars, which was a decrease of 7.5% from 49,000 recorded in the third quarter last year.

On after sales, Perodua saw 1.51 million intakes enter its 201 service centers nationwide from 1 January to 30 September 2016 compared with 1.45 million intakes in the same period last year.

Moving to production, Perodua produced 153,700 vehicles for the first nine months of the year, 9% lower compared with 168,300 vehicles produced in the same time period in 2015, which is a reflection of the current slow market situation.

Perodua has announced several key strategies to prepare to tackle current challenging economic conditions. The strategies are aimed to improve its fourth quarter performance. The main strategic initiative include the “Test Drive and Win” contest whereby the winner stands a chance to win a Perodua Bezza Advance (with GearUp accessories); and an opportunity to win a holiday trip to China. In addition, there is savings for selected Perodua models for the month of October through the end of the year.
