In 2019, Perodua manage to beat its previous annual sales record 227,243 units of 2018 with a total of 240,341 vehicles. The sales are spurred by continued strong demand for its entire model range – in ascending order, Alza, Aruz, Bezza, Axia, and Myvi. For 2020, Perodua is forecasting a sales target of 240,000 units that are cautiously optimistic which is obtainable despite being a more competitive market this year.
Perodua 2019 sales figure constitutes a year-on-year jump of 13,098 units which is a additional 5.8% increase and is the highest annual sales figure ever for the company. With the 240,341 cars sold in 2019, Perodua manage to rack up nearly 40% of the 2019 total industry volume (TIV) of an estimated 604,775 units and overtaking last year’s 38%.
2019 also see Perodua leading different segments which includes the Perodua Aruz that end the year as the best-selling SUV with 30,115 units sold. With the Perodua Bezza being launched 2 weeks ago, Perodua manage to deliver 2,000 units of Bezza from the total order of 15,000 units that includes 8,000 units of converted orders from the previous models.
Perodua also expects to boost production by 4% to 254,000 units from 2019’s 244,400 units. This includes production for export and to stock up for 2021. With the increase in production, Perodua also expected to spend another RM6 billion this year to buy local components, up from last year’s RM 5.4 billion.
Moving to the export market, Perodua also manage to achieve the best-selling sub-1.0L sedan in Sri Lanka while Perodua also entered a new market, the Seychelles. Perodua exports remained modest at about 2,800 units last year.
On the after sales front, Perodua saw 2.35 million services intakes in 2019 throughout its 186 service centers around Malaysia, charting an 8.3% jump over 2018’s 2.17 million service intakes. Perodua will continue to serve their customers through their vast vehicle sales and service network in 2020.
