Nine months after the signing of a new local assembly agreement, Peugeot and the Vietnamese group THACO (Truong Haï Auto Corporation) has introduced the new SUVs Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008, now locally produced at the THACO factory of Chulai ( region of Danang).
The launch of the two SUV models took place in Hanoi with the presence of Do Thang HAI, Vice Minister of Industry and Trade, Tran Ba DUONG, Chairman of THACO Group, Jean-Philippe IMPARATO, PEUGEOT Brand CEO and Denis MARTIN, CEO CHINA and South East Asia for Groupe PSA.
Thanks to the introduction in Vietnam of these two cutting edge SUVs, Peugeot and THACO reassert their common will to become one of the major industrial and commercial players in Vietnam, one of the biggest car markets in ASEAN that will benefit from a strong potential of growth in the coming years.
New Peugeot 3008 and 5008: SUVs to penetrate a key segment of the Vietnamese car market
Thanks to the production in Vietnam of the new Peugeot 3008 and 5008 SUVs, major success in the rest of the world with 280,000 units already sold, Peugeot and its partner THACO, leader of the Vietnamese car market, wish to penetrate the strategic segment of the 5 and 7 seaters SUVs, that represent today nearly 20% of the Vietnamese car market.
These two new SUVs complement the current range composed of the 208 and 508. They will be the spearhead of a modern range that will accelerate the move-up-market of Peugeot brand and bring the best of technology on the Vietnamese market.
The acceleration of the development of Peugeot in Vietnam is part of the internationalization of the brand and of the strategic plan of profitable growth “Push to Pass” and materializes PSA Groupe’s ambition to accelerate its development in ASEAN. These two new projects of local assembly are aiming to cover the needs of the Vietnamese market for a total volume of 26,000 units over the period 2017-2024.
Fast development of the dealer network
Peugeot cars are sold in Vietnam through a network of 11 points of sale and repair that meet the international standards of the Brand (Blue Box) and cover the key regions of Hanoi (Capital city) and Ho Chi Minh. By end of 2018, another 10 new dealers will join the existing network in order to improve the market coverage from North to South.
