Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) today announced the soon-to-be-available Porsche Macan at its Damansara showroom. The Macan is the Stuttgart sports car marque’s newest compact SUV that became the center of attention at the recent Auto China and Bangkok International Motor Show.

The Porsche Macan is offered in four derivations: the Macan four-cylinder, Macan S V6 Diesel, Macan S V6 and the top flight Macan Turbo. In looks, the Macan resembles the Cayenne to the core albeit a more compact body and stream-lined design. Porsche claims that the Macan takes up plenty of design elements from the 911 as well as the 918 Spyder variant. A new feature in the Macan is the wraparound bonnet that creates an impressive design detail, enclosing the headlights and extending down to the wheel arches. The imposing size of the bonnet and its precision lines running to the front of the vehicle give the compact SUV a broad and masculine appearance, while the seamless surface of the bonnet presents a clean front to the vehicle.

Porsche Macan shares the design language of the 911 and 918 Spyder

The new Macan adopts the current DNA of the 918 Spyder in the form of the basic shape of its main headlights, while the sideblades at the bottom of the front and rear doors are reminiscent of the lower door seams on the Spyder. Combined with the sophisticated door handles, this makes the doors appear narrower and the sides significantly more sporty and streamlined. On the Macan S and Macan S Diesel, the sideblades are painted in Lava Black as standard. The Macan Turbo features sideblades painted in the same color as the exterior (optional for Macan S and Macan S Diesel), adding to the classic elegance of its look. Sideblades in Genuine Carbon, available for all Macans as an option, add extra emphasis to the compact SUV’s sporty character. On the inside, the Macan is fitted with a multi-function sports steering wheel as standard.

A further design highlight on the side view is its sporty sloping roof line which creates a sharp profile and emphasizes the dynamic nature of the vehicle, while the design lines running to the rear of the vehicle accentuate the broad, sculpted wings. Relevant highlights include window graphics and a unique D-pillar; all inherited from the 911. From the rear, the 3-D LED lights and twin exhaust with diffuser are the major highlights. The exhausts are round on the Macan S and Macan S Diesel, whereas the Macan Turbo gets square-shaped twinpipes. Additionally. exhausts with chrome-plated stainless steel are available as an option.

“The Macan combines all the typical Porsche driving characteristics with all the benefits of what a compact SUV can offer in the everyday life. I am certain that with the new Macan, we will be able to reach out to owners who are looking into joining the Porsche family for the first time as well as to excite our long-term customers,” Arnt Bayer, Chief Executive Officer of SDAP, commented.

Porsche Macan availability and estimated prices

The Macan estimated price starts at RM 480,000, followed by the Macan Diesel at RM 550,000, Macan S at RM 560,000 and Macan Turbo at RM 780,000. Expected timeline for the Macan to surface at Porsche Malaysia showrooms are between late September and mid-October. SDAP is currently accepting bookings for the Macan at its Damansara and Glenmarie showrooms. For a glimpse before its arrival, enthusiasts are encouraged to visit the Bangsar Shopping Center from 21 – 25 May to get up, close and personal with the Macan.
