Proton bags five out of a possible six awards during the fourth CarSifu Editors’ Choice Awards gala dinner. The Proton X70, which launched on 12 December 2018, was the biggest winner as it was the Best Large-size SUV/Crossover (2-Row seating) and the Local Car of The Year winner.

Other Proton models that manages to receive awards are the Proton Exora for the Best Family Ride (RM50,000 to RM100,000, 3-Row Seating) category, Proton Iriz for Best Compact Hatch (below RM70,000) and Proton Saga for Best Compact Sedan (below RM70,000).

The premium variant was the winners of the CarSifu awards, as the premium units come equip with intelligent head units has proven to be an advantage. Equipped with voice recognition for quick access to navigation, music and weather apps, the feature has proven to be a major draw with customers. Even the Proton Saga, the entry-level model to Proton’s range has a floating 7-inch colour touchscreen in the Premium variant and although it doesn’t have the same level of connectivity, the system still has a full mirroring function for Android mobile phones allowing access to a user’s favourite apps.

Other strong factors cited by the CarSifu judging committee were the styling of Proton’s new range together with its traditional strengths of safety and delivering a fun driving experience. Starting with the Proton X70, a new styling language has emerged with elements such as the ethereal bow and infinite weave pattern linking all models to a common theme.

Less visible to the eye but even more prevalent in all Proton cars are the safety features and excellent driving experience. With a comprehensive combination of passive and active safety systems on each model, Proton has earned a reputation for producing cars that make occupant safety a priority. The Company’s engineers have also developed a keen balance of performance, ride comfort and handling for all Proton models, making each journey a memorable one.
