2019 has been a great year so far for Proton in their sales volume, as Proton manage to exceed total sales of 2018 in just 3 quarters of 2019. For 2019, 70,330 units (domestic + export) was registered so up till today, compared to 64,744 for the whole of 2018.

September 2019 see the highest market share percentage for Proton in 66 months with 8,934 units (domestic + export) registered, Proton achieved a growth rate of 97% over the 4,524 units in the same month last year. Proton’s exceptional performance equates to an estimated market share of 20.2%, pointing towards the Company growing sales at a higher rate than competitor brands. The figure is a 66 month high-point for the brand and helps to increase its year-to-date market share to an estimated 15.8%.   

Proton Saga achieve the number one A-segment sedan that is sold in Malaysia, with 3,994 units were delivered last month, the highest number of monthly deliveries for a Proton model in 2019. The figure also means the Saga was the best-selling A-segment sedan in Malaysia, reclaiming the position after missing out for nearly three years.      

The Proton X70 has maintained its position as the leading SUV in its class. As a celebration for its performance this year, Proton is now offering additional benefits for customers who purchase a unit in October. On top of the standard 5-year free labour service, 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and 5-year Internet data packages already included with every unit, there will also be a subsidised insurance package and overtrade incentive worth up to RM2,000. 

At the end of September, Proton has 104 3S/4S outlets, making it the most for such outlets in Malaysia. To ensure the level of service offered is upgraded, Proton is continue to invest heavily in training programmes for sales and service staff. The effectiveness of these programmes are reflected on the Sales Service Index (SSI) and Customer Service Index (CSI) scores of each outlet, which in return improve the company image.

PROTON SAGA RETURNS TO THE TOP

On the 6th of August, Proton launched the Proton Saga which is the fifth model launched by the Company in the space of eight months. The Saga has been part of the history since the 1st generation appearance 34 years ago. And with over 2,000,000 units delivered to customers in local and export markets, it is without a doubt the car that defines Malaysia’s carmaker. 

The response to the updated model from Malaysian car buyers has been very encouraging, with over 20,000 units booked as at the end of September. Priced between RM32,800 to RM39,800 it is the most comprehensively equipped vehicle in its segment, it’s no surprise that the buying public has propelled the Saga back to the number one position.
