In order to answer the other National Carmaker’s sub-compact model, Proton has officially introduced the second-generation Persona, which is priced between RM46,800 till RM 59,800. Previously, Proton has already made available bookings for the new Persona at an affordable starting price.

The new Proton Persona comes in three variants: Standard (MT and AT), Executive and Premium (bodykit optional). In looks, the Persona is a definite step-up with a contemporary design and eye-catching details, including a bold and attractive face with headlights. Other highlights include a sculpted hood, a black-mesh lower bumper grille and foglights housed in rectangle-shaped fascias.

Looking at the side, the new Persona takes up a well-defined shoulder line and low-sloping silhouette to the rear to bring up its aerodynamics and Cd attributes. From the rear, the compact features trendy rear lights, chrome panel below the boot lid, a spoiler (depending on variants) and a diffuser, that supposedly makes the car a little more menacing.

The interior of the new Proton Persona has seen major upgrades from its predecessor. The ergonomically-designed seats provide a much improved comfort level for front and rear occupants. In addition, there’s a new console layout which offers the driver and front passenger plenty of convenience. Speaking of convenience, the Smart features on the new Persona consist of Eco Drive Assist, Keyless entry, Push Start, Auto on/off headlights with auto levelling, Bluetooth connectivity, double USB chargers, Follow-me home indicator and Wi-Fi enabled. Smart features suite depend on variants and quite obviously, the Premium Persona has everything.

On the practical side, the new Persona comes with remote boot access, all-round sensors, 10 compartments with 7 cup holders, a spacious cabin and 510 liters of boot space. Other related interior benefits include super-flex frameless wiper, sunvisor extension, foldable rear seat and driver’s seat height adjustment.

The new Proton Persona is powered by a more efficient 1.6L VVT engine and is the first Proton car that is supported by ECO Drive Assist. Capable of achieving 5.6l/100km, the car’s indicator is expected to light up when optimum driving has been achieved.

The new Proton Persona is manufactured with overall safety in mind. It is equipped with ample safety features such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control System, Brake Assist, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Hill-hold Assist, ISOFIX and top tether, as well as 6 airbags for the Premium variant to ensure optimal protection. On the plus side, the new Persona has garnered a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating across the board. Furthermore, the new compact is instilled a more refined ride and much-improved noise vibration and harshness (NVH) attributes.

The new Proton Persona is available in solid and metallic hues along with three body colors. As an introductory offer, for bookings made before 30 September, the new Persona starts from RM46,800 to RM59,800, plus a standard three-year manufacturer’s warranty.
