National carmakers Proton has released its latest monthly sales report for May. The month of May has been a positive month for Proton as sales showed an increase of 2.3% at 4,091 units from 3,999 cars sold in the previous month. Car sales got better towards the end of the month with the drive for Proton Saga and Persona models leading the way. The two models made up 70% of total sales for the month and along with other models gave Proton an unofficial 8.8% market share.

The increase in sales performance was largely due to the Malaysian Government’s announcement on the zero-rated GST, coupled with the company’s attractive ‘zero-zero’ promotion with 0% financing for the first year and free 3 months installment for customers.

“Proton continuously strive to provide the best deals for its customers as we realized that having good products alone is not enough if there are no additional attraction to pull customers into our showroom. Hence, we had concurrently put in place all the right measures and efforts for total quality improvement of our products, attractive offers for ease of car ownership and in the pipeline, the dealers upgrade of 3S and 4S centres which will prepare us to face the challenging market more positively,” said Abdul Rashid Musa, Chief Executive Officer of Proton Edar.

Proton Saga Raya deal from below RM30,000: The best price in 10 years

The market trend looks positive after the subtraction of the GST and to heighten the deal of zero-rated GST of Proton cars,  the company is pushing a Raya money promotion for the festive season to allow customers to enjoy the Saga from below RM30,000 for its nett selling price. It is the best price offer in the last 10 years.

Customers can also expect savings up to more than 6% for Persona, Iriz and Ertiga models.  Plus, there will be savings of up to RM4,000 for Iriz and Ertiga, and up to RM3,000 for Persona. The savings offered are on top of the ‘zero’ GST.

For your info, Proton Persona and Iriz are packed with relevant safety features like ESC, traction control, 6 airbags and
a HPF body structure. The Iriz has even earned an ASEAN NCAP 5-Star recognition. For a decent family MPV, the Proton Ertiga is your pick. Proton’s one and only MPV is quite a popular choice thanks to its easy-on-the-pocket low fuel
consumption,  roominess with extra versatile, multiple seating layout, comfort for 3rd row with rear aircond vents, and ample
headroom.

In a related news, Proton has pledged its support to “Tabung Harapan” Malaysia as a Corporate responsibility duty. RM10 of each car sold from now until 31 December is pumped into the new Govt-initiated funding program.
