|Proton Holdings and the Government’s branch of the SPAD (Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat) have announced a collaboration to better Public Taxi services.|
Entitled the ‘1Malaysia Taxi Program’ initiative, the national automakers will supply the Proton Exora – one of the country’s best selling MPVs – to the Teks1M program.
The Proton Exora is a slightly updated version, featuring predominant white on the hood, roof, side pillar, and a Mica body color with wave lines at the side, plus numerous taxi amenities. Most noticeable of all is none other than the Teks1M top panel on the roof of the Proton Exora Cab edition.
The major conveniences inside the Proton Exora Taxi include an extended cabin and an especially large trunk with a full-flat second row seat for rear passengers comfort and extra baggages. While, the Taxi accessories installed comprise; taxi meter, credit/debit card facility and mobile data terminal, as well as an OEM-fitted NGV kit.
Available in either manual or automatic transmission, the Proton Exora Taxi incorporates the many safety features of the original Proton MPV. The key safety features are two airbags, Antilock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and various.
The Teks1M Proton and the SPAD collaboration entails the decree of the Government’s plan to not just improve the domestic public taxi services, but to enhance local tourism. Proton has been an active supporter of the domestic Taxi industry since the 80s, as evident as the existing red and white Proton Saga taxis in the city, the Proton Waja taxis that run the KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) route and more. Proton has also been the sole provider for budget taxis in the country for almost 30 years. To date, Proton has supplied in excess of 60,000 vehicles of different variants; the Iswara, Waja, Saga and Persona.
