|Renault Malaysia (TC Euro Cars) recently held a track day event for owners at the Sepang International Circuit as part of its obligations to foster better customers’ ties.|
The Renault Malaysia track day activity has been a regular fixture since 2010 and this time around, some 30 owners, mostly Megane R.S., turned up in force to showcase their competitive spirit on the 5.543 kilometers track. Aside from the Megane R.S. and a small number of Megane R.S. 275 Trophy owners, Clio R.S. owners also got into some track action during the track activity. The end result was clear as the Megane R.S 275 Trophy proved to be unbeatable with a best lap time of 2:37.234; for obvious reasons…
As always, Renault Malaysia’s trusty ambassador Denis Lian, who’s a pro race driver, was called in to show the owners the ropes around the Sepang track in the Megane R.S 265 Cup/ Sport and Megane R.S 275 Trophy. Lian achieved a 2:24.350 in the Megane R.S. 275 Trophy, a 2:41.000 in the Megane R.S. 265 Cup and 2:44.350 in the Megane R.S. 265 Sport. Lian, of course, gave unlimited taxi rides around Malaysia’s one and only Formula 1 track.
Needless to say, the star of the Renault M’sia’s track day was none other than the Renault Megane R.S. 275 Trophy R. This top-of-the-range Megane R.S. is a radical special edition that takes advantage of the latest Renault Sport technology upgrades and other new state-of-the-art equipment to deliver the performance, dynamism and handling that rivals a real racing car. As was illustrated at last year’s Nürburgring Nordschleife run, the Renault Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R covered the 20.832 km in just less than eight minutes.
The next highlight at the track event was the facelifted Megane R.S. 265 Sport. This version, a notch below the Trophy version, offers similar unrelenting performance and exceptional road-handling. It delivers maximum power of 265hp and peak torque of 360 Nm. With a 6-speed manual transmission, both Megane R.S. 265 Sport and Cup versions are capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds, with a top speed of 255km/h.
In the near future, Renault Malaysia plans to organize more R.S. themed track day through the year, as part of its commitment to deliver superior ownership experience to its customers. The company also supports the R.S. Collectif club which has grown to over 180 members since it official started in 2013.
