Renault Megane line-up now encompasses the Coupé-Cabriolet

allcarschannel Renault has announced the Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet as the newest member of its 2014 Megane line-up. The Renault Megane line-up comprises the regular Megane, Coupe, Estate and now, the Coupe-Cabriolet. For this year, the Megane line-up is made available with a 130 hp petrol engine coupled with a dual clutch (EDC) automatic gearbox. (click to enlarge)

The Renault Megane Coupé-Cabriolet features the new design identity along with a fresh touch of elegance. On board the Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet is the Renault R-Link online multimedia system. At a glance, the Coupe-Cabriolet is presented with a refreshed bumper, headlamps, air vents and hood. There’s the usual Renault emblem on the front grille, now larger than ever, plus elongated headlights that stretch out the front end for a wider look. The elongated headlights are shaped to better the open top’s front air flow.

Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet fresh approach to open-top driving

A distinctive feature of Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet is its big, black, shiny glass roof; also the largest panoramic roof in its segment. The chrome trim around the windshield combined with the beltline adds a touch of class and cabriolet styling, even when the roof is up. Its unchanged proportions (4,485 mm long, with a wheelbase of 2,609 mm) and its fluid, dynamic lines give it a sleek and elegant shape. Combined with the forward-positioned windshield and glass windbreak, the car offers unique open-air driving sensations in cabriolet mode with none of the drawbacks at speeds up to 90 km/h.

Inside, the forms are soft and clean, the materials and fittings are of the finest quality. And the side-vent and dashboard trim subtly echoes that “shiny and black” roof overhead. At the top of the center console, there’s an integrated Renault R-Link multimedia tablet, which is valid as a standard equipment or an option, depending on the version.

Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet engine variations

There are petrol and diesel engines for the Megane line-up; the 1.2-liter, TCe 130, dCi 110 and dCi 130. The 1.2l petrol engine provides quick pick-up even at low revs, while the Energy TCe 130 engine with overboost offers more torque (+20 Nm) during start-up and rapid acceleration phases. The TCe 130, paired to a dual-clutch (EDC) automatic gearbox, does up to 130 hp and 205 Nm and gets up to 100km/h in 9.5 seconds. Combined-cycle consumption and emissions are rated just 4.8 l/100km and 5.6 l/100 km.
