Renault Samsung Motors set to challenge stronger brands in ultra competitive Korean market
Renault Samsung Motors was established in 2000 to revive the co-branding of the French automotive marque and the Korean electronics giants as a local, reliable, quality-driven brand positioned in the premium segment. After ten years of growth and development, RSM pushed through a tough year in 2011, with sales and profitability plunging in a very competitive market. Determined to counter the competition and restore its positioning, RSM launched a Revival Plan in January 2012 that has begun to show results.
QM3, based on Renault Captur, is intended to widen RSM product range in the ultra competitive landscape of Korea, and at the same time, the compact crossover is presented as a unique variant for the Korean market. Following on the global success of SUVs and the market shift towards smaller cars, QM3 meets the demands of young consumers looking for alternatives to traditional B-segment vehicles. The variant’s first 1,000 customers, who confirmed their orders within seven minutes of order books opening on 20 November, will take delivery of their new car by mid-December. Almost 4,000 further orders have since been sealed, with delivery scheduled for the first quarter of 2014. RSM QM3 was first presented to the Korean public at this year’s Seoul Motor Show on 28 March, and was voted Best Car of the show.
QM3 is fifth variant of the RSM line-up
As the fifth model in RSM’s line-up, QM3 provides an unprecedented response to the demand of young motorists looking for an original small car. QM3 is a small urban crossover which combines attractive styling, sporty performance, adequate travelling comfort and driving enjoyment.
