|The Audi A3 Sedan variant now includes the new top-of-the-line S3 Sedan. Built at Audi plant in Györ, Hungary, the Audi A3 Sedan is the four-ring marque’s first notchback (sedan-hatch) version that entails all the hallmarks of a premium compact car.|
Styling-wise, the Audi S3, which measures 4,460 mm in length, marries the design of a sedan-hatch and convertible. Highlights include the single-frame radiator grille, horizontal contours on the bumper and large air inlets. Options available are all-LED headlights and LED rearlights. At the side, the flat roof line terminates at the C-pillar and merges seamlessly with the shoulder line. At the same time, the tornado line is a prominent contour edge and the wheel arches are flared.
The premium features continue on the inside, which consist; a lean instrument panel, driver-centric center console, and round air vents with 3-D inlays and air-conditioning control panel. At the rear, the boot space has up to 425-liter capacity and more with the rear seats folded down.
The S3 top-of-the-line’s list of high-end infotainment and driver assistance systems are Bang & Olufsen sound system and 7-inch touchscreen MMI navigation plus. Equipment lines also feature their own respective interior colors. The S line sports package for the Ambition line, for instance, bathes the interior entirely in black. Available upholstery materials include fabric covers, a mix of fabric and artificial leather, Milano leather and a combination of Pearl Nappa leather and Alcantara. Individual options such as Audi adaptive light and a panoramic glass sunroof are taken directly from the luxury class.
The Audi S3 powers up to 300 hp and 380 Nm of torque, thanks to a 2.0 TFSI powerplant and a manual S tronic or 6-speed S tronic transimission. That translates to 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 4.9 seconds with the six-speed S tronic (5.3 secs with the manual transmission). Speed is electronically capped at 250 km/h (155.34 mph). Its four-cylinder turbocharged engine averages just 6.9 liters of fuel per 100 km.
Handling and stability rely on front MacPherson and four-link rear suspensions. And thanks to a weight distribution of 59:41, magnetic ride and electronic LSD; the A3/S3 sedan handles well and safe during fast cornering. Other custom fittings include the Audi drive select (standard with the Ambition line), sports suspensions and 16 – 19-wheels. Do note that the 19-inch wheels are available only in conjunction with a sports suspension and Audi magnetic ride.
The A3 Sedan starts at a base price of 24,300 euros.
