Prior to the Festive season break more than a month ago, Shell Malaysia kicked off a ‘You Buy, We Donate’ charity campaign. The fifth-year campaign, which ran from 30 May – 8 June, initiated by the Fuel company managed to raise a total of RM1.92 million. This campaign is supported by Mastercard. The money benefits several charitable organizations.

How it works? Shell donated a cent for every liter of transaction amount and a cent for every ringgit spent at Shell SELECT stores. Meanwhile, Mastercard contributed a cent for every 1-liter fuel transaction and a ringgit spent at SELECT stores, transactions with Mastercard debit or credit cards.
Aside from the big guys, road users, Shell’s agencies and partners all came together to make this year’s contribution one of the largest to date in the form of cash or other options.
The beneficiaries included National Cancer Society Malaysia, Food Aid Foundation and Malaysian Nature Society.
Shell Malaysia’s Chief Shairan Huzani Husain remarked, “We managed to raise RM1.92mil for the organizations in just 10 days. We wish to thank all our customers and partners for contributing to this cause.”
Mastercard’s Country Head Perry Ong added, This partnership has been instrumental in encouraging Malaysians to use cashless payments for their everyday purchases, while at the same time, giving back to the community and impacting the lives of the less privileged.”
After a successful campaign for the fifth straight year, Shell Malaysia will continue this meaningful campaign in future festive seasons. Like most Corporations with their Corporate Social Responsibility causes, they believe in supporting the charitable organizations’ efforts in building a brighter future for the communities they serve.
