New Subaru Ascent SUV showcased

The all-new Subaru Ascent was recently unveiled at the New York Auto Show. The New Subaru Ascent displayed at the Auto show is a three-row midsize SUV Concept. The styling concept also confirms the name Ascent for the upcoming model.

With both its exterior and interior design following Subaru’s “Dynamic x Solid” design theme, the Subaru Ascent SUV concept illustrates three-row capability and full functionality. In dimensions, the Ascent concept measures 5,050 mm in overall length and is 1,990 mm in width.

Its relatively sleek proportions is thanks to a height of 1,840 mm, which is relatively low for a mid-sized SUV. A long wheelbase of 2,970 mm enables plenty of head- and leg-room, and not to mention a comfortable fit for seven occupants. The concept SUV has a typical ergonomic layout at the front with the huge touchscreen smacked in the center of the finely crafted dashboard. A touchscreen is also made available for the second row passengers.

The Ascent production model will utilize the Subaru Global Platform and include features such as a newly developed direct-injection turbocharged Subaru BOXER engine. The model will be manufactured at Subaru’s U.S. plant, Subaru of Indiana Automotive, and will be introduced exclusively to the North American market in 2018.

The exterior design of the concept follows Subaru’s “Dynamic x Solid” theme with powerful fender flares representing Subaru’s all-wheel-drive system and a grille denoting a true SUV look. The interior of the concept features a flowing dashboard design and a 7-passenger configuration with center captain’s chairs. Tyre size of 275/50 R21 and 21-inch wheels complete the impressive package on the latest Subaru mid-sized SUV.

The next-generation of Subaru vehicles comprise the Subaru Global Platform. Subaru’s global platform provides world-class collision safety, thanks to a sturdily built chassis and the use of high-strength steel structures. Next up, the global platform enables high spec components to be integrated into a practical structural layout.

In addition, the Subaru global platform offers high maneuverability with new suspension geometry that pairs agility and stability effectively, It even allows the vehicle to avoid road hazards. Last but not least, the platform maximises interior space with highly efficient packaging.
