SummerNats was kickstarted by an upstarter Chic Henry way back in 1988, especially for the ‘OZ’ auto enthusiasts in the summer. Fast forward to today, the SummerNats has been voted OZ-land’s favorite auto event, and the event has also drew a huge crowd on an annual basis. Last year, some 1,500 street machines and 100+ thousands descended on the Exhibition Park in the Capital City for the 3 1/2-day SummerNats. Activities included get up, close and personal with mean street cars, burnout battles, precision driving demos and horsepower heroics.
Now, JPM Motorsport wants to emulate this successful OZ-land Auto exhibit by bringing on the SummerNats Malaysian rendition; in conjunction with the country’s independence day and Sepang’s Merdeka 12-hour race. Having organized the previous three Malaysian editions of the Super GT (Japanese Touring Cars Championship), JPM Motorsport is switching to hold an event closer to heart. The first SummerNats Malaysian rendition will be held at the Sepang International Circuit over the four allocated days from 29 August to 1 September. Visitors to the SummerNats can expect plenty of American and European classics, custom machines, hot rods, muscle cars, super sports, two wheelers, 8 competition winning cars from OZ-land, and cars from the JPM auto showcase outlet such as, the AC Cobra, Chevrolet Camaro SS, Chevrolet Bel Air, Chevy Impala and the Ford Mustang. Most of the nominated cars will participate in the Street Machine parade. Additionally, JPM Motorsport is organizing the Malaysia Riding Tour which embarks at a yet-to-be-decided starting point to the final destination at the SummerNats, Sepang circuit. And yes, let’s not forget about a plethora of racequeens, campaign girls and models…
To localized the SummerNats, JPM Motorsport calls out to domestic talents to bring forth their drives and rides to compete for cash and other prizes. Up to 12 categories are up for partaking, each to be judged by experts from OZ-land and Malaysia. Other highlights of the inaugural SummerNats include Burnouts exhibit, track runs by the folks at Porsche Club, Ferrari Club and Lamborghini owners, biggest car and motorcycle gatherings, and the largest bicycles gathering. JPM Motorsport is vying to achieve 10,000 cyclists to be accorded in the Malaysian Book of Records. Meanwhile, the purposeful infotainment zone is a sanctuary of sorts for everything about automotive, bikes and more. Besides the infotainment zone, there is a bazaar, a food festival and a kids zone to make the SummerNats a true family-oriented affair.
For exhibitors and marketers, the domestic SummerNats offers a potentially large commercial and marketing platform. JPM Motorsport calls to the interests of the auto manufacturers, accessories, products and services distributor to partake in the first ever SummerNats fanfair.
SummerNats Malaysia is scheduled to include a motorshow with the aim of housing all reputable car and motorcycle brands. There’s also a zone for aftermarket products and accessories. Furthermore, a Gymkhana is to be staged for drift and motorsports enthusiasts.
A four-day entry ticket to enter the SummerNats M’sia is priced RM100 with loads of exciting activities, a good weekend of family outing and lots of beautiful things to ponder. Further info available at www.summernats.com.my
