Suzuki M’sia brings back to life the Iconic Jimny 4X4

 2013 Suzuki Jimny Suzuki Malaysia Automobile today brought back to life one of its most recognizable vehicles, the Jimny. The Suzuki Jimny first appeared in 1968 as a 1.3-liter off-roader that’s able to tackle rough and challenging terrains. This rough rider arrived in Malaysia in 1979 and sold over 20,000 units from ’79 until its production ceased in the year 2000.

True to its original form, the refreshed Suzuki Jimny incorporates new elements for 2013; namely on the hood, front bumper and grille. Touted as a cross-country 4X4, the Jimny still carries a 1.3-liter engine, coded M13A with DOHC, that’s paired to either a manual or automatic gearbox. Its output of 63kW/85 PS and torque of 110Nm @ 4,100 rpm enable this little 4X4 to partake in construction or agricultural farming, as a wilderness adventurer or a sporty urban navigator.

Standard radio, CD and MP3 player with Aux is instilled for the Jimny. The list of standard equipment for the Jimny include; a steering with switches, 15-inch wheels. back roof rails, reverse sensor, an immobilizer alarm system, carpet mats, fabric seats and door inserts.

Whether city driving or rugged expedition, the Suzuki Jimny is up for the task. With the Drive Action 4×4 system, the Jimny is capable of shifting smoothly between 2WD on city streets and 4WD on rough terrains with a push of a button at speeds of up to 100km/h. Throw in the optional four-wheel, 3-channel, 4-sensor ABS; the Jimny offers dependable steering control and maintains some form of stability during hard braking. Safety features such as the EBD with Brake Assist is in place as well for the modern Jimny.

Suzuki M’sia predicts that the growing 4×4/SUV market should assist to spur the Jimny back to its previous status – as a popular small 4X4 forerunner. Furthermore, Suzuki doesn’t see a rival in this category. The company expects this variant to be an important contributor to its existing line-ups.

Available in the JLX version, the Suzuki Jimny is priced on the high side at RM 87,305.50 for manual and RM 92,435.50 for auto; all prices include insurance. Colors valid are Silky Silver Metallic, Superior White, Prime Ever Green, and Metallic Quasar Gray.
