On the 23rd August 2019, Subaru unveiled their revamped showroom in Petaling Jaya with the launching of the all-new, award-winning Subaru Forester. The revamped showroom is designed to deliver a unique experience for their customer by being one of the first Subaru showrooms in the country to feature Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies. This allow the customer to select the various vehicle colours and trim options through AR, and going through a 360 view around and inside the vehicle through the VR headsets.
Back to the star of the show, the Subaru Forester, that is assembled in Thailand by Tan Chong Subaru Automotive (Thailand) Limited (TCSAT). The newly launch Forester will showcase the four hallmark of Subaru Core Technologies namely, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Boxer Engine, Subaru Global Plat,form, and EyeSight driver-assist technology.
The main highlight of the latest Forester is the EyeSight driver-assist technology which can be found in the highest spec Subaru Forester. The EyeSight driver-assist technology includes automatic pre-collision braking, pre-collision throttle management, adaptive cruise control, lead vehicle start alert, lane departure warning, and lane sway warning. On top of the above mentioned safety system, there is also the Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection (SRVD) system that uses radar sensors to warn driver on any objects or vehicle that might be approaching the vehicle when the car is reversing.
The latest Forester comes with a new 2.0 direct injected boxer engine and CVT gearbox that is mated with the Subaru iconic symmetrical All-Wheel Drive System that delivers more power and acceleration, while improving fuel efficiency. There is a X-MODE function that works in tandem with Active Torque Vectoring to keep the car safe through different road conditions.
The minimum ground clearance of the all-new Subaru Forester is rated at 220mm which is impressive to navigate heavy rainfall, floods and river terrains. While being able to conquer terrains, the Forester could also carry up to a total of 1,775L (+251L more than previous model) through the various terrain.
The wheelbase of the Forester is now 30mm more than previous model, which translate to 33mm more rear legroom for passenger inside the car. Creature comfort such as individual seatback pockets, rear air-conditioning, rear USB charging ports, and a 6.3” LCD colour Multi-Function Display to help the driver and passenger to feel comfortable in the latest Forester.
The all-new Subaru will be available in 3 different variants. You can get the Subaru Forester 2.0i-L at RM139,788, Subaru Forester 2.0i-S at RM149,788, and the top of the line Subaru Forester 2.0i-S EyeSight at RM159,788. All 3 variant will come with a 5 years or 100,000km warranty coverage.
The all-new Subaru Forester won the 2019 Grand Prix Award for earning the highest score in the Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP) collision safety performance assessment conducted by the government of Japan. The Forester also received the Advanced Safety Vehicle Triple Plus (ASV+++) rating, the highest rating in the 2018-2019 JNCAP preventive safety performance.
