2015 Audi A6 arrives Audi Malaysia today revealed the refreshed Audi A6 in its seventh-generation guise for the domestic market. The 2015 Audi A6 is now offered in either the 1.8TFSI or 3.0 TFSI powerplant, along with a whole host of exterior and interior refinements.

The Audi A6 variant, which was first conceived as the Audi 100 (C1) in 1968, has become one of the most beloved variants among Business Executives the world over, particularly in Deutschland (Germany). Seven generations later, the A6, with its innovative technologies and unique Executive outlook, continues to be the four-ring marque’s core variant in its passenger car line-up.

For the updated A6, the Premium mid-sized Sedan has several added exterior features: a wider singleframe grille with chrome struts, more defined air inlets, changes to the front and rear bumpers, new headlights and rearlights and chrome-rectangled exhausts. The headlights now come with either the Xenons (1.8 TFSi) or LEDs with Matrix Technology (3.0 TFSI), while the rearlights are furnished with LEDs and LEDs with dynamic indicators for the 1.8 TFSI and 3.0 TFSI, respectively. Wheels and tyre sizes are; the 10-spoke 17-inchers with 225/55 R17 for the 1.8 TFSI, and 15-spoke 19-inch with 255/40 R19 on the A6 3.0 TFSI.

An extended wheelbase of 2,912mm has afforded the Audi A6 a larger interior, which goes along with the plush and business class comfort within the cabin. The A6 1.8 TFSI has a standard MMI radio plus, which features an electrically retractable 6.5-inch screen and Audi sound system 6-channel amplifier with 10 speakers. For the A6 3.0 TFSI, the MMI gets navigation plus on an 8-inch touch screen with Audi Connect. Standard audio multimedia system for the A6 3.0 TFSI is none other than the BOSE Surround Sound 12-channel, amplifier.

In the powerplant department, the Audi A6 1.8 TFSI, which replaces the previous 2.0 TFSI, now has a slightly smaller displacement, but still capable of 190 hp at 4,200 – 6,200 rpm and 320 Nm of torque. Power is transferred to the wheels via a 7-speed S tronic transmission. The A6 1.8 TSFI can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 233 km/h. Fuel consumption and emissions figures are 5.7l/100km and 133g/km.

The top flight A6 3.0 TFSI with a V6 configuration pushes over 333 hp between 5,300 – 6,500 rpm and 440 Nm of torque between 2,900 – 5,300 rpm. Also on a 7-speed S tronic, with a auattro permanent all-wheel drive, the A6 3.0 TFSI does 0 – 100km in 5.1 secs and achieves a top speed of 250 (electronically limited). Consumption and emissions hold steady at 7.4l/100km and 172g/km, even with that much power and torque ratings.

Safety features are aplenty for both A6 versions, including 6 – 8 airbags, ESC package, immobilizer, Flat tyre indicator, Parking Aid display, Hold Asssit, Electric child-proof locks and ISOFIX.

The 2015 Audi A6 is offered in 13 color options: Ibis White, Brilliant Black, Glacier White, Oolong Grey, Mythos Black, Dakota Grey, Floret Silver, Diamond Biege, Aviator Blue, Tornado Grey, Havana Black, Moonlight Blue and Garnet Red. The A6 1.8 TFSI, available with immediate effect, has a price tag of RM 324,900 (not including insurance), while the A6 3.0 TFSI is priced at an estimated RM 500,000. All A6 versions are fully-imported.
