Turning a Flying Spur Luxury Limo. into a GT Sports Sedan

The Bentley Flying Spur has been the marque’s Super Luxury Limousine for years, until now. The New Flying Spur is transformed into a Super Luxury Grand Tourer to keep up with the times, by the folks at Crewe.

To make it a GT, Bentley put a modern twist to the Flying Spur by making the car more muscular with a tinge of elegance. Highlights include crystal-cut LED matrix headlights matrix with chrome sleeves, a Flying B mascot emblem dead and center above the front grille, fresh wrap-around rear lights and the huge 22-inch wheels.

In dimensions, the Flying Spur GT is 130mm longer in wheelbase than the previous model; this means a bigger cabin and more legroom. As with Bentleys, craftsmanship is utmost for example the wood veneers in single or dual option along with high-quality leather with Mulliner Driving Specification diamond quilted seats and 3-D diamond quilted leather door inserts. On tech and connectivity, there’s an HD digital instrument panel display and a unique rotating center console with choice of 12.3 inch digital touchscreen (analog or digital) and/or remote control touch screen for rear passengers. A panoramic glass sunroof comes standard.

The Flying Spur’s chassis is made up of new and advanced aluminium and composite and 48V electronic architecture. Body construction of the new Flying Spur comprises state-of-the-art, multiple materials.

At the heart of the new Flying Spur is an enhanced version of Bentley’s renowned 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged W12, mated to a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission for faster, smoother gear changes. This new TSI engine delivers 635 PS (626 bhp) and 900 Nm, 0-100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 333 km/h.

As an absolute GT Luxury, the Flying Spur gets an electronic  all-wheel steering for the first time to go with Active All-Wheel Drive and Bentley Dynamic Ride. The ride and handling are further enhanced by new three-chamber air springs that allow a limousine-style ride comfort or sporting levels of a GT Sports. Nothing of this sort has been heard of in Super Luxury motoring.

Finally, a host of new Driver Assistance Systems are fitted to the new Flying Spur as standard, including Traffic Assist, City Assist and Blind Spot Warning.

The Bentley Flying Spur GT goes on sale in the fourth quarter, with deliveries in early 2020.
