UMW Toyota Motor announces Special Service Campaign online checker

UMW Toyota Motor has announced a special service campaign online checker for Toyota owners. The company acknowledges that over the time, some vehicles may have changed ownership and any special service campaign notification may not reach the current Toyota owners. In view of this, the company has added a new special service campaign online checker or webpage to its official website for Toyota owners to verify and check their vehicles availability for specific Special Service Campaigns.

The service campaign microsite details specific model’s service requirement or recall. As announced on 29 June, service campaign was called for the Toyota Prius model. In view of recalls initiated by Toyota Motor Corporation for curtain shield airbag issue, some 3,500 Toyota Prius produced between April 2009 – April 2012 were recalled in the first run. The second recall involved some 6,000 Toyota Prius, produced between April 2009 – November 2013, to replace the faulty fuel emission control unit.

Toyota RAV4 recall was activated in February this year due to faulty seatbelt of the second row seats. In Malaysia, 5% from the 500 units of RAV4 sold by UMW Toyota Motor were affected. These vehicles were manufactured between October 2005 – September 2008.

From July until October 2015, service campaigns were extended to as many as 96,815 units. Of the total figure, 66,830 units of Toyota Vios, Toyota Corolla Altis, Toyota Camry, Toyota Yaris and Toyota RAV4 manufactured from September 2005 to December 2010, were involved in the service campaign for faulty power window master switch. The second batch of 29,985 units of Toyota Vios, Corolla Altis and Yaris, manufactured from April 2007 – December 2008, were recalled for an airbag inflator issue.

With the new service campaign announcement, UMW Toyota Motor hopes to improve the reach to owners who are no longer on the company’s database. UMW Toyota Motor urges its customers to periodically use the system to check on the latest Special Service Campaign via its microsite www.toyota.com.my/owners/special-service-campaigns.
