For the fifth consecutive year, Toyota took home the Gold Award in the Automotive Category of the Putra Brand Awards 2016. It is also the seventh time that the brand has received an award since the prestigious event began in 2010.
Also known as the People’s Choice Awards, the 7th Putra Brand Awards saw a total of 29 Gold awards, 30 Silver awards and 43 Bronze awards across 24 categories, in addition to five special awards, presented at Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

It is great encouragement for us to know that Toyota is the favorite automotive brand of Malaysians and we thank not only those who gave positive responses about Toyota but also all our customers nationwide,” said Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor. “Moving forward, we aim to please our customers even more with a greater variety of high-quality products to suit different needs and an ownership experience that will give them complete satisfaction.”
This year, there were 24 categories in the Putra Brand Awards which is the premier brand awards event in the country. It is organized by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As) and endorsed by Matrade with the support of the Branding Association of Malaysia, the Malaysian Advertisers Association and the Media Specialists Association.
Utilizing a robust consumer research methodology developed by partner Effective Measure, over 6,000 consumers were interviewed to determine the country’s favorite brands within multiple categories, with each category being awarded a Gold, Silver and/or Bronze for the most preferred brands.
Other Gold award winners included: Casio, Shell, Petronas, 100 Plus, Carlsberg, Dutch Lady, Vitagen, Maxis, Maybank, Gardenia, Dettol, Panadol, Dynamo, Ikea, Astro, GSC, Panasonic, Colgate, Sime Darby, Aeon, Tesco, KFC, AirAsia and Taylor’s University.
