Vision EQS is the Mercedes-Benz’s Vision of the Future

One of the main highlights for Mercedes-Benz at the Frankfurt Motor Show is the zero-emission Mercedes-Benz Vision EQS show car. With a catchy tagline ‘Lasting beauty that moves’, the Vision EQS depicts the Three-point Star’s future of high-quality vehicles and self-determined driving

The Mercedes-Benz Vision EQS Concept has a ‘one bow’ with free flowing yet expressively sculptured persona. There’s a clear color division at shoulder level creating the  impression of a “black panel” glass landscape. The effect is like its floating on the silver vehicle body. At a glance of the Vision EQS, there’s a striking EQ impression from front grille to the rear.

The headlights comprise of Digital Light, each with two holographic lens modules, integrated into the continuous 360-degree exterior lightbelt. The digital front grille consists of a light matrix with 188 individual LEDs, a world first.  Furthermore, the three-point star emblem has 229 illuminated, individual stars on the integrated lightbelt at the rear. When the concept comes to life, a 3-D effect is realized.

Inside, the concept takes up inspiration from luxury yachts. The layout is clean, flowing and offers an interpretation of modern luxury, a glimpse into the future. The dashboard blends with the body of the front trim section to form an interior sculpture. With its deep and open spatial architecture, the cockpit envelops the occupants like the deck of a boat. The dashboard, center console and armrest all combined to from a ‘floating’ effect within the cabin.  Materials utilized inside are DINAMICA microfiber, maple trim, artificial to nappa leather and textile, made from recycled ocean waste materials, is used for the roof.

The Vision EQS incorporates the advanced MBUX for everything interactive and Connected. Other highlights include air vents integrated into the trim element, sophisticated speaker covers in rosé gold and the fragrance flask encased in a decorative holder.

Mercedes-Benz EQ Performance

Two electric motors and battery give the concept an output of 350 kW and a torque of around 760 Nm. The Vision EQS accelerates from 0-100 km/h in under 4.5 seconds. At initial stage, the concept has a comfortable operating range of up to 700 km according to WLTP. Assuming a charging performance of 350 kW, the show car recharges the battery to 80% in considerably less than 20 minutes.

The Vision EQS’ structure is based on an intelligent multi-material mix of steel, aluminium and carbon fiber, plus sustainable materials made from recyclates. This optimally meets the requirements with respect to lightweight design, strength, cost efficiency and sustainability.

With the Vision EQS, Mercedes-Benz will be in a position to fulfill the desire for individual mobility and thrilling handling characteristics in the future. At the same time the Vision EQS show car supports the driver with highly-automated driving sometime in the near future.
