At the front, there’s the signature “R” design front bumper with the matching front grille, Xenon headlights and LED DRLs. The side profile is practically a carbon copy of the GTi, save for the matt chrome mirror. From the rear, “R” design rear bumper with diffuser, dual exhaust and darken rearlights are the main highlights. The exterior package is completed by the 18-inch “Cadiz” wheels or the optional 19-inch Cadiz wheels (Tech Pack). With Tech Pack, you also get a panoramic roof and rear view camera.
Volkswagen Golf R gets more “R” emblems than ever
To the inside, the extreme Golf R is equipped with more “R” emblems than ever on the multi-function steering, Alcantara seats, the dashboard’s Carbon Touch decorative inserts and door trim panels. Meantime, Piano Black decorative inserts are utilized for the center console, while the front door panels and scuff plates are illuminated for the purpose of being a Golf R. The driver stares at the multi-function display with Lap Timer function on the aggressive-looking instrument cluster. Major interior highlights include LED reading lights and footlights, auto dimming rear view mirror and 2-zone “Climatronic” a/c. The Tech pack option gives “Vienna” leather upholstery, 12-way electric adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control with speed limiter and a keyless entry pack. On the entertainment and multimedia front, the new Golf R is equipped with ‘Discover Pro’, an infotainment system with 8 inch TFT touchscreen with proximity sensors (tech pack), and a navigation system with voice control.
The new Golf R churns a respectable 290 hp and 380Nm of torque from 1,750 rpm, thanks to a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol direct-injection (TSI) engine.
