Volkswagen’s full line-up gets new technologies for 2020 model year in the United States. And that’s not all, driver’s assistance systems have been beefed up as well.
All VW models come with updated telematics and Wi-Fi capability, as well as wireless charging for the Jetta, Jetta GLI and Tiguan. The entire VW line-up include the Atlas, which we’ll skip as it isn’t available in Asian markets. Let’s start with the upcoming model, set for debut in Malaysia soon, the VW Arteon.
For 2020, the Arteon is offered in four variants for the U.S. market. Specifically for the market, the Premium sedan has next-generation Car-Net telematics system and in-car Wi-Fi capability. The top lines get 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, while highest line receives 20-inch wheels and R-Line content.
The Golf range, comprising the petrol, hybrid e-Golf and GTI, comes with varying new additions. The Golf value edition gets telematics and Wi-Fi, along with keyless access and push-button start. Inside, the seats have leatherette surfaces and are heated to go with a panoramic roof and heated washer nozzles. Wheel sizes are standard 16-inchers.
The e-Golf in two trims is equipped with full driver assistance package (previously optional), consisting Front Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert and Adaptive Cruise Control.
The top-of-the-line GTI also in two trims has everything mentioned above, plus an Autobahn Package featuring a Discover Media infotainment system with navigation, Climatronic automatic dual-zone climate control, Fender Premium Audio, Automatic Cruise Control, Lane Assist and Light Assist.
For the mid-sized Jetta, there are five variants and all include the telematics and Wi-Fi, as well as wireless charging. A cold weather package is also included to add a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, heated wiper park, heated washer nozzles and remote start. Wheels come in 17-inch aluminum-alloy.
The GLI Jetta shares the features above and DCC adaptive damping system, new for 2020.
Passat range gets redesigned for 2020, with four lines. Thenew Passat features a coupe-like profile, dominant grille and dramatic lines. Beside the exterior changes, the car upgrades the 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct injection TSI engine with a new torque converter and new software, boosting torque. In addition, Passat upgrades the infotainment system with a new glass-covered touchscreen.
In the SUV line, the Tiguan receives minor upgrades to the assistance systems like Front Assist, Side Assist and Rear Traffic Alert. There are five variants of the Tiguan SUV.
In addition to the newly standard driver-assistance features, all Tiguans are equipped with the Wi-FI and Telematics, and wireless charging for higher trims. The top-of-the-line Tiguan features 20-inch black aluminum-alloy wheels, black-accented R Line bumpers and badging, foglights, a panoramic sunroof, front and rear Park Distance Control and a black headliner. Other features depending on variant include heated steering, auto-dimming rearview mirror, rain-sensing wipers. heated wiper park and 20-inch wheels.
