Armin Keller with the new Volkswagen Vento
Volkswagen Group Malaysia today officially unveiled the Volkswagen Vento, the new compact that is supposedly meant to compliment the Polo line-up. The new Volkswagen Vento is available in three variants: Highline, Comfortline and Trendline. Price for the new Volkswagen Vento starts from RM 79,888.

The locally-assembled Volkswagen Vento takes up a fresh chrome grille at the front, while the side has captivating contour lines for that dynamic profile. The rear has a streamlined outlook with unique combination lights and much definition to add to the car’s elegant, yet purposeful compact car impression.

Inside, the Volkswagen Vento is rather similar to the Polo Sedan but different in more features than one. Highlights include a three-spoke steering with switches, chrome accent on gearknob, air vents surrounds and center of dashboard, an updated audio unit, ample soft touch materials on the dashbboard and other relevant panels, and lastly the seats are of high-quality fabric type.

The only turbocharged sedan in its class, the Volkswagen Vento Highline is equipped with a 1.2L turbocharged and direct-injection TSI engine with an output of 105PS. A 7-speed dual-clutch or direct-shift gearbox (DSG) provides a maximum torque of 175Nm and delivery from 1500rpm to 4100rpm. The Vento Comfortline and Trendline take on a more down-to-earth 1.6l engine, paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission gearbox with Tiptronic, for an output of 105PS and 153Nm of torque. Frugality is a buzz word for the Volkswagen Vento, with a consumption ratings of just 5.5l per 100km for the Highline and 6.5l/100km for Comfort and Trend variants.

The new Vento Highline is awarded 5 star rating by ASEAN NCAP and is equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), four airbags (front and side), anti-lock braking system (ABS), Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS) and ISOFIX. As per Volkswagen’s commitment to building stronger and safer cars, the new Vento is also constructed using laser welding which is standard for all Volkswagen vehicles.

According to Volkswagen Malaysia, the Vento has been a best seller in India, Russia and Latin America. The new Volkswagen Vento is offered in five colors: Candy White, Flash Red, Reflex Silver, Carbon Steel Grey and Deep Black.

The new Vento is priced at RM79,888 for the Trendline, RM86,888 for the Comfortline; and RM93,888 for the Highline. As an early bird special, get the new VW Vento at just RM 77,888.
