Volvo Cars has revealed performance-inspired R-Design models of the new S90 saloon and V90 estate. Central to the S90 and V90 R-Design is an advanced sport chassis that delivers an energetic, road-hugging drive.
R-Design delivers an edge to the elegant estate and sedan models in Volvo’s 90 Series, with a winning combination of a sportier, more responsive drive with clearly visible performance styling. Sporting a new front-end design with spoiler-integrated foglights, the R-Design models come with a unique grille and piano black trim on both the front and rear. A new five-spoke matt black diamond-cut wheel adds to the performance feel.
A wide range of styling cues are included on the inside, from unique deco trim, pedals and mats, to the sporty contour seats and special steering wheel, including a high-level interior illumination package that radiates attention to detail.
Volvo S90 and V90
Equipped with a host of new technologies ranging from cutting edge safety to cloud-based apps and services, the S90 is further proof of the Swedish brand’s continuing transformation.
The Volvo S90 comes equipped with an advanced semi-autonomous drive feature, Pilot Assist. The system gives gentle steering inputs to keep the car properly aligned within lane markings up to motorway speeds of around 130 km/h and no longer needs to follow another car. Pilot Assist is another step towards full autonomous drive, a key innovation area for Volvo.
The S90 also comes with a clean and powerful T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid powertrain and one of the most luxuriously appointed interiors and connected infotainment systems in the large sedan segment.
The S90 also introduces a world first function to City Safety (large animal detection), a system capable of detecting large animals such as elk, horses or moose, night or day. The technology offers an intuitive warning and brake support to help avoid a collision.
Based on the same Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) as its XC90 and S90 siblings, the V90 is the estate version of the widely acclaimed S90 sedan which was launched at the North American International Auto Show in January.
