Volvo presents the all-new XC40

Volvo has unveiled the all-new XC40, the brand’s first entry into the compact luxury SUV segment. The new XC40 is the first model on the Volvo’s new modular vehicle architecture (CMA) platform which will underpin all other upcoming vehicles in the 40 Series including fully electrified vehicles.

In Canada, Volvo will offer the XC40 with the T5 variant, and all-wheel-drive. The T5 engine offers a 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder engine that is turbocharged and is equipped with an 8-speed gearbox, 250 horsepower and 350 Nm (258 ft. lb.) of torque. Momentum and R-Design trims of the new XC40 will be available in spring 2018, with the Inscription trim being available in the summer.

“The XC40 is our first entry in the small SUV segment, broadening the appeal of the Volvo brand and moving it in a new direction,” said Håkan Samuelsson, president and chief executive. “It represents a fresh, creative and distinctive new member of the Volvo line-up. So it only feels natural to reveal the XC40 here in Milan, a buzzing European hotspot for fashion, art, design and lifestyle.”

Pilot Assist, City Safety and other safety features are available on the new SUV as is Sensus Navigation, 360° Camera and Volvo On Call among others.

Starting pricing for the XC40 in Canada is listed at $39,500 for the XC40 T5 Momentum. Pricing for the XC40 T5 R-Design is $43,700.
