We’ve previewed the New Skoda Octavia or Octavia IV (fourth generation) in a previous article, prior to its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show. As the Geneva show nears Skoda has released more details of their pride and joy with announcement of the New Octavia RS IV with Plug-in hybrid drivetrain. A tease video was dispatched to the press to offer glimpse of the impressive looking Octavia RS IV. The Geneva show also sees the debut of the Skoda KAMIQ Scoutline SUV and another Octavia IV variant.
Skoda Octavia RS IV: If looks could kill
The Skoda Octavia IV RS has a signature black bodywork to go with a sporty interior, a testament to the RS heritage. Meanwhile, the first plug-in hybrid powertrain to feature in a Skoda RS model points the way towards a sustainable future.
In looks, the RS Octavia features the black grille, dynamic front apron with black Air Curtains and a rear apron featuring Aero Flaps and a matching rear diffuser in sporty black. Completing RS family traits are the black alloy wheels with red brake callipers and a black RS spoiler. There’s a Combi Estate version with a roof spoiler in body color, as well.
Interior-wise, the cabin’s predominantly black and the seats come with contrast stitching and integrated headrests. The other highlight is the leather-wrapped steering.
Octavia RS IV engine options
At launch, the New Octavia RS IV comes with a 1.4TSI plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Combined the petrol and electric motor, the output of 245 PS and a maximum torque of 400 Nm is achieved. On all electric mode, the car can cover up to 55 kilometers. Lastly, this Octavia has a sports suspension with signature RS fine-tuning fpr dynamic handling.
The standard Octavia iV also has a plug-in hybrid powertrain; its 1.4 TSI joins forces with an electric motor to provide a combined output of 204 PS and a torque of 350 Nm. Available in conjunction with the Ambition and Style trim levels, the car has a lithium-ion high-voltage battery with a capacity of 37 Ah and an energy content of 13 kWh. Like the RS iV, it can be conveniently charged at home from a 230-volt mains socket or a wallbox.
Skoda KAMIQ Scoutline SUV
Another Skoda to have its motor show premiere in Geneva is the KAMIQ Scoutline SUV. This car marks the first time the brand is releasing a Scoutline version of an SUV. Features such as matt black wheel arch covers and rugged silver bodywork elements lend this city SUV a daredevil look which is emphasized by large wheels with a diameter of 17 or 18 inches. The SUV will be available with any engine from this model series, with outputs ranging from 90 – 150 PS.
In the interior, Skoda’s newest SUV boasts a generous amount of space and exclusive decorative trims, with an ash-wood effect as standard and a dark brushed design available as an option, complemented by chrome-style air vents. The pedal covers feature an aluminium design. While the height-adjustable front seats come with special Scoutline upholstery made of breathable ThermoFlux fabric and Suedia microfiber, the steering wheel, handbrake lever and gearshift lever have a leather finish. The LED ambient lighting illuminates the center console,door storage compartments, door handles and footwells in white, red or orange. Moreover, the new SUV is fitted with LED reading lights. Finally, a black roof lining rounds off the interior.
