2014 Toyota Corolla Altis ready for domestic premiere soon

allcarschannel Following the new Toyota Vios’ “Distinctively Stunning” intro. last year, UMW Toyota Motor follows it up with the price announcement of the upcoming all-new Toyota Altis (Corolla) for the domestic market. The soon-to-be-launched new Toyota Altis is valid in three versions; the 1.8E, 2.0G and top flight 2.0V.

Exterior-wise, the Corolla Altis shares a rather similar design interpretation with its popular B-segment sibling, the current Toyota Vios. The top-of-the-line Altis V-spec takes on the sleek LED Projector headlights and DRLs as obvious signature motifs, as well as 17-inch alloy wheels and a smoked finish front grille. The other versions attain a chrome finish grille and regular halogen headlights. Front and rear foglights and rear LED lights are standard across the new Altis line-up, Aerokit accessories such as front and rear bumper spoilers, side skirts and rear spoiler are made optional for a more aggressive looking Corolla Altis.

All-new Toyota Altis gets a more contemporary interior

A contemporary dashboard featuring optional 2-DIN Head Unit with a 7-inch touchscreen, navigation and reverse camera are the accentuating refinements inside the Altis, with the V-spec getting a slightly better treatment. The seats for the V-spec Altis is offered in Combi-leather with an 8-way adjustable power seat for the driver, whereas the E- and G-spec Altis have black fabric seats.

The Altis’ Dual VVT-i 16V DOHC engine which ranges from 1.8-liter to 2.0-liter displacements is mated to a CVT with 7-speed Sports Sequential Shift automatic transmission. The powerplant enables an output 107kW (145PS) at 6,200 rpm and 187 Nm of torque for the V- and G-spec. The starting Altis E-spec offers an output of 102kW (139PS) at 6,400rpm and 173Nm.

All Altis versions are fitted with standard front MacPherson Struts and a rear torsion beam. For safety features, the Altis has some of these major highlights: Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and ISOFIX.

UMW Toyota Motor has confirmed the price of the all-new Toyota Altis from an estimated RM114,000 to 136,000 for the Peninsular, subjected to its official announcement.
