2017 Isuzu MU-X: Better and Bolder than before

Isuzu Malaysia has introduced the 2017 MU-X Seven-seater SUV with exterior and interior updates. From the previous Isuzu MU-X, the latest SUV also has a host of new safety features.

At a glance, the 2017 Isuzu MU-X has a new front fascia along with bi-LED projector headlights to give the rugged SUV a more premium look. The aggressive front which offers a stronger presence is inspired by the bald eagle, depicting a sharp and lustrous identity. The Bi-LED projector headlights in blue light spectrum and LED Daytime Running Light (DRL) further enhance that premium factor. The lights improve driver vision when driving at night and reduces driver fatigue due to the blue spectrum light range. Furthermore, the headlights come with an auto-leveling feature that keeps the light projection in the optimum direction.

Available in 4X4 and 4X2, the 2017 MU-X’s profile has been uplifted with the presence of 18-inch wheels. The rear is quite similar to the outgoing MU-X, with the exception of the new fog light. A new body color is offered with the 2017 MU-X, Havana Brown, to go with the existing color palette.

Isuzu Malaysia’s CEO Kenji Matsuoka said, “The 2017 Isuzu MU-X sets the benchmark in our vehicles line-up. The MU-X takes up Isuzu’s conservatively tuned engine, which has been known for its paramount durability and reliability.”

“Our vehicles have always been designed on our three key principals in fuel efficiency, reliability and durability. The thousands of hours spent by our engineers in refining the Isuzu mu-X has resulted in this pinnacle engine build, and enable us to provide 5 years unlimited mileage warranty,” he added.

Inside, the 2017 mu-X will indulge the driver and passengers with its exquisite interior design. It is upgraded with soft surfaces for majestic feeling with wood pattern panel at the door trim and front dashboard. The elegant center graphic and new design electroluminescent (e-LUMAX) meter panel with Multi-Information Display (MID) is installed to give more notable features for the SUV.

The other prominent improvement is its new refined quilt pattern leather seat to ensure the comfort of the driver and passengers. Its infotainment system is upgraded with 8 speakers surrounding the car delivering clear audio for all occupants. The 4×4 variant comes with an 8-inch DVD touchscreen and comes with a fold down monitor for back row occupants. The 4×2 version has the 7-inch DVD touchscreen.

Safety features are upgraded for the mu-X, new to the features range is the Hill Descent Control (HDC). HDC function allows a smooth and controlled hill descent in rough terrain. The driver can adjust vehicle speed to suit slope conditions by depressing the brake pedal or accelerator (maximum 30 km/h). It works for both hill forward and backward descent. Other relevant features are the 6 SRS airbags, as well as Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Hill Start Assist (HSA).

The new price of the 2017 mu-X is quoted at RM 183,000.40 on the road without insurance for the 4×4 variant and RM 176,640.40 for the 4×2 variant. It comes in 5- speed automatic transmission only, and retains the previous fuel efficient diesel 2.5 -liter VGS engine with Turbo Intercooler.
