Fresh from its recent local debut, the newest Lexus LC 500 Coupe is now joined by the LC 500 Convertible. The LC 500 range is the pinnacle model in the Lexus’ repertoire. Now, the Convertible (open-top) version compliments the Coupe variant in Lexus Malaysia’s line-up at a starting price of RM1,350,000.
As you’d expect from an open-top, the LC 500 Convertible is armed with top-notch performance and a design to die for. Based on the LF-LC Concept, the Convertible features signature low, sharp front design, 3-beam LED projector lights, and Lexus’ Spindle grille. From the rear, there are LED combi. lights with infinity mirror design and a third brake light that is integrated into the edge of the trunk lid to further streamline the profile. The LC 500 Convertible sits on 21-inch forged wheels with two-tone polished finish and black coating.
As one of the world’s most desirable open-tops, the LC 500’s roof opens and closes in 15 and 16 seconds at 50 km/h or less. The roof utilizes a hydraulic-operated soft top, which is constructed from a 4-layered material (3 layers of fabric + NVH material). In addition, a tonneau cover is incorporated to cover the roof storage space in order to give the LC 500 Convertible a neat appearance when the roof is opened.
Interestingly, due to its lightweight structure, the new roof contributes to the car’s dynamics, whilst eliminating significant intrusions to the trunk and cabin space. Despite the addition of the folding roof, the LC 500 Convertible tips the scales at a mere 90kg more than its coupe sibling while the luggage compartment still delivers a respectable 149 liters of space. When it comes to driving, the convertible not only elevates the sensorial experience for the driver but allows a more intimate connection between man and machine, as well as the surroundings.
On safety, you’re rest assured of Lexus’ exemplary global standards. This variant of the LC 500 comes with the Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+), which features a suite of advanced safety systems designed to mitigate untoward incidents on the open road. For example, Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert with Lane Keep Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Automatic High Beams. Plus, a total of six airbags with Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
On the passive side, the Convertible has active roll bars that extend upwards when a rollover is detected. When not deployed, the rolls bars are hidden from view.
The LC 500 Convertible is offered in these hues: White Nova Glass Flake, Deep Blue Mica, Sonic Silver, Terrane Khaki Mica Metallic, Naples Yellow Contrast, Blazing Carnelian Contrast and Radiant Red Contrast.
The Lexus LC 500 Convertible is expected to be delivered to customers by February 2021 for early buyers.
