Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has announced the New GLA as the eighth model in its SUV line-up, today. As a premium sub-compact SUV, the New GLA provide class and dignity with a hint of athleticism.
Exterior-wise, the new GLA has an updated front-end and reinforced rear-end to flow with the 19-inch wheels (GLA 200 with 18-inch). Front-end highlights include grille with single louvre and the Three-point Star, as well as LED high performance headlights.
The GLA’s profile has refined shoulder and coupe-like lines to present a powerful stance. Meanwhile, the underride guard gives a certain dignity to Mercedes’ new SUV. In dimensions, the new GLA is 4.41 meters long, hence its sub-compact SUV status.
The new GLA-Class is available in two variants, the GLA 200 Progressive and the GLA 250 with AMG BodyStyling with prices at RM244,199 and 285,336, respectively (not including insurance).
The new GLA is a little more compact than its predecessor, but emphasis has been placed to ensure appropriate head- and leg-room in the cabin. Interior highlight include the familiar free-standing display with tw0 10.25-inch screens, the signature air vents (5), door center panel, handle, and the MBUX infotainment system.
The new GLA 200 carries a 1.3-liter turbocharged 4-ylinder engine, paired to a 7G-DCT automatic transmission, to churn 163 hp and a maximum torque of 250 Nm, while the GLA 250 ups it to 224 hp and 350 Nm with a 2.0-liter and 8G-DCT automatic transmission.

The new Mercedes GLA range offers a complete driver’s assistance systems for driver and passengers’ optimum safety. Two notable systems for the new GLA are the Active Brake Assist and Blind Spot Assist (GLA 250 only).
