Malaysian Trade & Consumer Affairs Ministry takes delivery of New Honda Civic

Honda Civic delivery to Ministry

It was a fitting Christmas for the Malaysian Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs ministry as they take delivery of the new Honda Civic from Honda Malaysia, a day before the big day.

Sixteen units of the Honda Civic were delivered to the ministry in time for the year-end. The ministry chose the Honda Civic as the most viable vehicle model for its fleet requirement. This was the first ever such transaction between Honda Malaysia and the ministry.

Toichi Ishiyama, Honda Malaysia’s Managing Director and CEO, remarked, “On behalf of Honda Malaysia, we are honored that the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs has chosen Civic as their preferred car in accomplishing their tasks and duties.”

Why the ministry picked the Honda Civic

The 10th Generation Civic which has been updated for the year is the most popular model in the Non-national C-Segments in the country. In sales, the Civic has accumulated some 10,400 units since its local introduction, accounting for  81% market share in the compact sedan category. The Civic sits as the second best selling model in Honda’s line-up ranks in the country.

Several factors about the Civic were considered by the ministry, amongst other things: the design, performance, efficiency and comprehensive safety features, and of course, the price.  The Civic 1.8l i-VTEC, selected by the ministry, offers an output of 141PS and 174 Nm of torque. At the other spectrum, the Civic does come with 1.5L VTEC turbo which comes with the Honda SENSING. This turbo variant is highly sought-after in Malaysia. As an Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV), the Civic ranks high on the ministry’s requirement list.

The design of the Civic, as we all know, has that fastback styling and appeals to buyers with its sporty and somewhat masculine demeanor.  Throw in the advanced features such as Electric Parking Brake (EPB), Walk Away Auto Lock, Remote Engine Start and 7-inch Display Audio, you can’t go wrong with the Civic.

On the safety package, the Civic 1.8l is a five-star rated ASEAN NCAP car with these standard features: 6 airbags, VSA, Agile Handle Assist (AHA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), AABS, Brake Assist (BA) and Auto Brake Hold (ABH).
