Honda City top sales

2020 has been a year to forget and let us all move into 2021 with renewed interests and big gains. We at Allcarschannel.com wishes you A Happy New Year!

Our first feature for 2021 is on the New City, Honda Malaysia’s pride and joy, which has amassed 34 percent of a grand total of 60,469 units sold for the past year. This monumental achievement proves that the City model is highly sought-after and solidifies Honda Malaysia as top dog amongst Non-national makers.

It was only in October last year that the new City was introduced and by December, the model had garnered 5,500 units sold with 15,200 bookings already in the books. This meant that the new City was the top model for the brand through 2020.  From October until December, 10,800 of the 5th-generation City had been delivered. The car is offered in 3 versions, with the top-of-line V version being most desired as it made up 52 precent of the model’s revenue.

The New City alone makes up 34 percent of Honda Malaysia’s 2020 sales. Other top selling models were  the Civic and HR-V, making up 20 percent and 17 percent of the grand total.

As previously featured, the City is a popular compact or B-segment model in Malaysia for some years now. The reasons are pretty self explanatory, the car offers an exceptional package as a whole, from design to the affordable price.

First-time car buyers go for its contemporary and sleek look, for example the scuptled front-end, LED headlights with DRLs, LED foglights and LED rearlights (V spec only). Additionally, increased wheel size to 16-inch gives the car a more athletic prowess.

On the inside, the cabin has a rear vent across the range along with leather seats and a hint of Ivory highlights within the cabin. Tech available for the City V and E versions is an 8-inch touchscreen with relevant connectivity. Both V and E versions have the steering shifters and Remote Engine Start function, for the first time.

Under the hood, the New City carries a (121PS/145Nm) 1.5l DOHC i-VTEC, matched with a CVT gearbox. The top-of-the-line City RS e:HEV, meanwhile, gets an intelligent Multi-Mode Drive(i-MMD) powertrain that delivers 109PS and a best-in-class max torque of 253Nm.

Safety comprises of the Honda LaneWatch and all the customary usual features such as airbags, Isofix points, VSA, ABS, EBD, ESS, Hill Start Assist (HAS) and seatbelt reminder at the rear, as well as sensors with reverse camera (V and E versions).

If you’re looking for a new ride, be sure to visit a Honda dealership and try out the New City for yourself.
