The Mitsubishi Triton is currently the main focus model for Mitsubishi Malaysia. As such, the company has introduced the latest rendition of the Triton, in the form of the Athlete. The Triton Athlete effectively replaces the Triton Adventure X as the highest grade of the line-up.
A pick up to rival any pick ups
The Mitsubishi Triton is a popular name amongst pick up enthusiasts, along with the Ranger, Hilux and D-Max. But, what makes it different? The answer lies with the Triton’s own unique embodiment, for example the latest Triton Athlete is updated with a blacked-out front under garnish to go with the brand’s Dynamic Shield front bumper and black grille. At the side, there is an Athlete graphic side stripe to represent sporty demeanor and adventure-readiness. Overall, the pick up has a blacked-out theme from side mirrors to the 18-inch wheels.
Apart from its sporty demeanor and toughness, the Triton Athlete is built for occupants’ comfort. The orange-stitched leather steering, as well as on the gearknob, not only go easy on the eyes but functions well. At the same time, a rear air circulator has been included for rear passengers. To make it stand out further, Mitsubishi even added LED illuminated scuff plates to highlight the pick up whenever passengers get onboard.
The Triton Athlete carries a 2.4-liter MIVEC turbodiesel to churn 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque.
Proven ruggedness and adventure-ready
The mew pick up is paired to a Super Select 4WD II with off-road mode for optimum traction and handling characteristics for all terrains. In addition, it has Hill Descent Control and a turning radius just 5.9m. All safety features and creature comforts previously available on the Triton Adventure X have been transferred to the Triton Athlete.
At press time, the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete is offered in three colors: Sun Flare Orange Pearl, White Diamond and Jet Black Mica. Extra accessories have been included in the package. The pick up retails for RM 141,500 at Mitsubishi dealerships nationwide.
