Mazda, Toyota, Suzuki and Subaru join forces to build next-generation car communications devices

In an official press statement, Mazda along with Toyota, Suzuki and Subaru will join forces to build the next-generation vehicle communications devices.

In addition, the four major Japanese Automakers will work together to promote the use of communications systems, by using connected services to link automobiles and the latest communications platforms. 

In the near future, the field of CASE (connected, autonomous/automated, shared, and electric) will combine communications and data aspects of technology and business including cloud services, IoT, big data, and AI. The cars branded Mazda, Toyota, Suzuki and Subaru will use a single platform of communications devices.

The future of Car connected services

The manufacturers aim to provide more advanced connected services to customers as early as possible. In begins with the development of vehicle communications devices, followed by utilizing a cooperative domain. Next, there will be deployment of applications and services as an in-house domain.

At press time, Toyota supplies the base car communications technologies to Mazda, Suzuki and Subaru. Soon the four will build systems for next-generation connected cars with common connection specifications from vehicles to networks and the vehicle communications device center. The goal for the next-gen car communications is to ensure the systems offer clearer calls and faster connection speeds.
