All Kinds Of Strength: Mercedes-Benz GLB

Mercedes-Benz in Malaysia recently expand their SUV portfolio here in Malaysia by introducing the brand new GLB. The design of the GLB emphasises surface, and reduced lines and precise panel gaps.

At the front section, the upright grille blends in with the headlamps and short overhangs front and rear showcase the GLB’s off-road genes. There are front visual skid plate and distinctive air intakes that emphasises the SUV character.

On the sides, the GLB comes with attached panels under the doors and the wheel arches gives the off-road feel plus stone chips protection. At the rear, the GLB has a two-piece tail lamps and reflectors relocated to the bumpers that also highlight the SUV look. The elevated roof rails are made of polished aluminium.

The loading capacity of the GLB boot space measured in at 570 to 1,805 litres. The backrest angle can be adjusted to several stages across all the model range. The second row can be moved fore and aft. This enables the boot to be enlarged up to 190 litres and put to versatile use.

The GLB is the first compact SUV from Mercedes-Benz to offer a third seat row with two additional individual seats. For comfort level in the third row seats include two drinks holders between the seats as well as two storage compartments, each houses a USB port. The seats can be lowered to create a flat boot floor in order to extend the load capacity.

The GLB is equipped with MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) system. The standard system features two 7-inch displays for the instrument cluster, sports steering wheel, USB port (Type C), Bluetooth® connection for telephony and audio sources. The latest generation of the Mercedes me connect is also a feature that comes as standard in the GLB.

For safety, the GLB is loaded with a whole host of safety to keep the occupants safe in the SUV. There are 6 airbags, 4 ISOFIX points at the 2nd and 3rd row seats, Active Braking Assist, and Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC just to name a few.

There will be 3 different engine option for the GLB. The GLB will come in GLB 200 Progressive Line, GLB 250 4MATIC AMG Line, and the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC.

GLB 200 Progressive Line is powered by the 1.3-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine combined with the 7G-DCT 7-speed automatic transmission. It develops 120 kw (163 hp) and a maximum torque of 250 Nm, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.1 seconds.

GLB 250 4MATIC AMG Line will comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with the 8G-DCT 8-speed automatic transmission. It rates at 165 kW (224 hp) and produces a maximum torque of 350 Nm, accelerating the car from 0-100 km/h in only 6.9 seconds. In addition, the GLB 250 AMG Line is equipped with the 4MATIC permanent all-wheel system.

Lastly, the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC will feature the turbocharged AMG 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine develops 225 kW (306 hp) and combined with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 8G-DCT 8-speed automatic transmission and variable AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. It is capable of an acceleration from 0-100km/h in just 5.2 seconds.
